After calling thenight a little short, I drove us all home and Louisa and I helped Huck into hercondo. He was feeling no pain, and I couldn’t stop a smile as he limped his wayover to Louisa’s sofa.

“How many ofthose edibles did he take?” Louisa asked.

“Two,” he said.

“Okay, two,” Iconfirmed.

He grinned.“There’s two left in the bag.”

“You tookfour?”I squeaked, then chuckled. “Well, no wonder you’re flying high.”

“You’re sopretty.”

“Thank you.” Istroked his cheek. “Are you in pain?”

“I have noidea.” He grinned, slinking deeper into the sofa. “You know, I’m gonna fuckin’marry you, Daisy.”

“Oh, yeah?”

He tugged meonto his lap.

“Watch yourknee,” I warned.

“I’m good.” Hewrapped his arms around me. “Totally gonna put a ring on it.”

“Okay, honey.Can’t wait.”

“Why is heacting so weird?” Louisa asked. “Did he O.D.?”

“I don’t thinkit’s possible to O.D. on weed.” I grinned. “He just O.G.’d.”

“What does thatmean?”

“Over gummied.”

Louisa sighed.“Well, I’m going to bed. You guys have fun.”

She walked downthe hall, and I focused on Huck. “I’m gonna go. Can you get yourself back toyour room, or do you need help?”

“I absolutelyneed help.” He gave me a squeeze. “Especially if we get naked while you dothat.”

“And risk youdestroying your knee any further?” I challenged. “I don’t think so.”

He slid a fingerdown my cheek. “You always think about other people before yourself, don’tyou?”

“I try to.”

“Prettiest girlI ever met. And I don’t just mean looks, Daisy.”

“I think that’sthe nicest thing anyone’s ever said to me.”

“I doubt that,”he countered. “You probably just weren’t listening.”

I sighed. “Maybenot.”

I moved to getoff his lap, but Huck held me a little tighter. “Don’t leave just yet.”
