Dad gave Huck’sshoulder a squeeze. “Glad to hear you’re comin’ home.”

“I hope there’sstill a place for me with the Dogs,” he said.

“You never lostyour place, brother,” Dad said. “But don’t come back until you get Dogs ink onyou.”

Huck laughed.“I’ll take care of that immediately.”

Huck had takenHatch’s initial advice and tattooed a motorcycle with flaming pucks for wheelsover his heart. There were daisy chains woven around the handlebars and it wasthe coolest tattoo I’d ever seen.

“When can youpack up?” Mom asked.

“Next week,”Huck said, and Mom looked up at Dad.

“Yeah, baby,we’ll get them here within the week.”

She grinned,folding herself around him and he kissed her temple.

With a plan inplace, we made our way out the back of the arena, away from the screaming fansand paparazzi, and toward our new life.

Nothing couldhave been more perfect.
