“Hand me your phone,”I said.

“Your phone,” Irepeated.
She dug in herpurse and pulled out her phone, unlocking it then handing it to me. I put mycontact information in it, then texted myself.
“Text me theaddress to this shindig and if we can make it, we will,” I said.
The elevatordinged and the doors slid open.
“Okay, soundsgood,” Daisy said, and I stepped into the lobby.
She and Harmwere obviously continuing down to the parking garage, so they stayed put. Ismiled and gave her a wave, heading toward the mailboxes as the doors closedagain.

“Who’s the dude?”Harm demanded as we made our way to his truck.
“Louisa’sbrother,” I evaded, texting Huck the address before I lost my nerve.
“Daisy,” he bitout.
“What?”
“Who the fuck isLouisa?”
“My neighbor.”
He turned to meand crossed his arms. “Daisy Mae Carver, nice try with the verbal evasion, butit won’t work, and you know it.”
“Fine,whatever.” I rolled my eyes. “Huck’s Louisa’s unbelievably sexy as fuckbrother.”
“Wait, is thisthe guy that slammed Cash up against the wall?”
I smirked.“Yes.”
Harm raised aneyebrow.
“Cash deservedit.”
“Knowing yourbrother…” Harm nodded. “Probably.”
“Whatever. Ijust made a total fool out of myself because I’m a total dork,” I squeaked.
“Why are you adork?” Harm asked.
“Um, becausehe’s like the hottest guyever, and I’m me. A man like that would neverbe interested in someone like me. Oh my god, I’m totally awkward, and I justinvited him to a club night which is totally not his scene.”
Harm sighed.“Family night’s a big deal, sweetheart. Does he mean something to you?”
“I… ah… shit, Idon’t know.” I bit my lip. “I just made a complete fool out of myself, didn’tI?”
Harm cocked hishead before opening the passenger side door. “Are you being serious right now?”
“Yes,” I hissed.“Why?”
