“Yeah, I’m good.I need to make sure Daisy’s—”

“She’s okay.Razor’s with her and she’s in the car with a blanket getting warmed up.”

“I killed him,”I said.

“I know,” Cashsaid. “Are you okay?”

“Yeah, I thinkso.”

“Alright, let’sget you out of here,” Cash said, guiding me outside.

Razor walked upto us and frowned.

“Look, Daisydoesn’t want to go back to your parents’ place.”

“What the hell?”I growled.

“It’s okay, it’sokay,” Cash said. “We’ll get her back to the hotel and take care of Cyrus’sbody. You go grab her some clothes, toiletries, and shit like that, and burnyour clothes. Hear me on this, Ruin, you burn everything you’re wearing, exceptyour cut. Got it?”

I nodded.

“You got anyideas on where to get rid of this guy?” Cash asked Razor. “Do we have anyfriendlies out here in Toad Fuck Holler?”

Razor scratchedthe back of his neck. “Yeah, yeah. You remember Pops?”

“Pops Waller?”

“Nah, PopsDixon.”

“Yeah, retired afew years back,” Cash said.

“That’s right,”Razor confirmed. “Retired to a hog farm about thirty miles from here.”

“A hog farm?”Cash asked.

“Yeah, I guessit was a family business that went way back. I drove a U-Haul for him when heand his old lady moved out here,” Razor said. “Funny thing about those hogs isthey’ll eat anything. And I mean,” he motioned toward the building with Cyrus’scorpse, “anything.”

“Alright, let’sget the body wrapped up and into your truck. I’ll take my sister back to thehotel.” Cash turned to me. “You take care of your shit, got it?”

I nodded. “Gotit.”

I made my way tomy grandfather’s truck and headed home.

Huck

ISTORMED INTO the house and slammed thedoor.

“Hey!” Louisahiss-pered, rushing up to me from the kitchen. “Dad’s asleep.”

I dragged myhands down my face. “Sorry.”

“Where’s Daisy?”

“She went withCash,” I bit out, rushing upstairs to my room, hoping my sister didn’t noticemy blood-soaked clothes. I stripped quickly and headed to my bathroom, takingthe quickest shower ever. Once I was dressed, I threw my clothes and shoes intoa plastic bag and dropped them next to my bed.

“Huck?” Momknocked on my door and leaned against the doorframe. “Where’s Daisy?”

“She went to thehotel with her brother.” I grabbed a bag from my closet and dropped it on thebed. “I’m going to run some clothes over there for her.”
