“Nothing. Makeno mention of who’s residence this is or that I’m here. You and Mundy will stayposted inside with me, and everyone else will guard the perimeter. If anyonecomes near the house, and I mean anyone, I want empty clips and bodies tobury.”

“I understand. What about Lennox, Cavanaugh, and the protestors? What do you plan on doingabout them?”

I tapped myfingers on the table next to me. “The Gunnachs’ obviously haven’t said a wordto the authorities or the press. If they had, the church offices andMurfreesboro residence would be swarming with cops and reporters. That meansthey’ve either killed everybody and plan on keeping that information lockedaway with all their other secrets, or they’ve kept them alive and are torturingthem for information. If the latter is true, it puts us in a tight space, butnot one we can’t get out of.”

“I wouldn’tworry, sir. Those animals have probably raped and murdered every one of them.”

“We can onlyhope and pray, Miller.” I glanced at him. “Have you gotten a hold of Mrs. Traskyet?”

I’d left hermultiple messages and texts, but none had been returned.

“No, sir, I sentword to command. I’m still waiting for confirmation.”

“Find me as soonas you hear.” I scowled. “Dismissed.”

“Yes, sir.”

He walked out ofthe room, and I locked the door behind him before pouring myself a generousglass of bourbon.

Vivian, youslimy little cunt. Where the fuck are you?

WALKINGBACK INTO the cabin, I could see Lennox’s head was on her arms at the table butknew she wasn’t asleep. I set more firewood next to the small hearth, thenadded a log to the flame, facing her as she lifted her head and smiled. “Thatwas quick.”

“Aye.” I cockedmy head, searching her mind to make sure she wasn’t melting down. “You doingokay?”

Lennox sighed. “Yes,I’m fine.”

“How about Iclear these dishes and tidy up the kitchen and you can move our glasses andhootch into the living room, by the fire?”

She cocked herhead, her bottom lip forming the cutest little pout. “Are you trying to get medrunk?”

“I dunno, howeasy is it to get you drunk?” I joked.

“I’ve only beentipsy once. That was at my cousin Charlene’s wedding when I accidentally drankthree or four or twelve glasses of champagne.” One of her shoulders rolled upin a slight shrug. “Honestly, I can only remember because it was so delicious,I lost count pretty early on.”

“How’d you feelthe next morning?”

“The nextmorning was Sunday, which meant church. Can you imagine going to church with ahangover, let alone yourfirsthangover?”

I looked at hersheepishly. “I’ve never—”

“Oh right, youhave superpowers, and you can’t get sick.”

I laughed. “Notexactly. The Cauld Ane have very high tolerances to the effects of alcohol anddrugs. And, we can get sick, but most illnesses can be cured by our familymembers or mates. You’ll see once we’re bound.”

Lennox let out alow growl.

“Off to thecouch with you so I can clean up,” I said, handing her our glasses.

“You definitelyknow the right words to say to a woman,” she said.

My cock hardenedat the sight of her walking away. The sway of her hips, the bounce of her fullbottom. I couldn’t wait to bend that bare arse over my knee and sink my teethinto her luscious flesh.

“Iheardthat,” she informed me from the living room.
