“She was teasing.”

“I really was,” Poppy said.

“Well, you can quit,” Flash snapped, sliding his hand around my waist.

“Sorry, Tate,” Poppy rushed to say.

“There’s nothing to apologize for,” I said in exasperation. “Honey, seriously, your sister was just busting my chops. It’s all good.”

Flash’s glare turned into more of a frown as he gave me a squeeze and sighed. “I made you coffee.”

Poppy mouthed,“Sorry,”as we made our way back into the kitchen, and I responded with a smile.

By the time Melody walked back into the kitchen, I had busied myself enough with drinking coffee, eating breakfast, then helping with clean up, I’d managed to mostly block out the fact that Melody was my supreme ruler and shoved the bees back in their hive.

Two weeks later, not only had I survived an amazing double date with Melody and Train (without curtsying), the renovation of Flash’s house was almost done, which meant we could move in. Flash arrived on Saturday afternoon to pick me up, and I was ready with three suitcases packed and sitting in my foyer. There were still a few finishing pieces to do but it was habitable, and since he’d moved back in a few days ago, he gave me the choice to wait until everything was done or move in now. I chose now.

“Do you need help moving anything?” Dad asked Flash.

“No, we’re good. We’ve got the whole club doing the heavy lifting. But if you want to come over this week for dinner, I’ll grill,” Flash offered.

“We’d love that,” Mom said.

Dad picked up one of my bags. “I’ll help you load your truck.”

While Flash and Dad took my bags outside, I hugged my mom, and then made my way out to the truck.

I hugged my dad, then Flash waited for me to slide into my car before shaking Dad’s hand and climbing into his truck. I rolled my window down and smiled over at Flash.

He grinned, rolling down his window as well. “You ready?”

“So, so ready.”

We backed out of the driveway, and I followed him to our new home. We pulled into the garage, and he closed the garage door before coming to my car to let me out.
