“He doesn’t have anything going with Sierra, that’s the point.”
He settled a hand behind his head and raised an eyebrow. “You sure about that?”
“Um, yeah, she’s my best friend. I’m pretty sure she’d tell me if she had a ‘thing’ going with Wrath.”
He smiled. “Okay, Frazzle, maybe she doesn’t.”
“Then you need to talk to Wrath.”
“Not gonna happen.”
“Why not?” I sat up, the sheet falling away from me, leaving me fully exposed to him. I didn’t miss the renewed look of desire as it blazed in his eyes, and I tried to pull the sheet around me again. I needed him to focus.
“Because it’s none of my fuckin’ business.” He tugged the sheet off me and grinned.
I tried to pull the sheet back, unsuccessfully. “If he’s being an asshole to my best friend, shouldn’t you make it your business?”
He cocked his head. “Define ‘asshole.’”
“Ah, locking her in his room against her will is one definition.”
“That was resolved.”
I threw my bandaged hands in the air. “Because mybrotherpulled rank.”
“Raquel, he didn’t hurt her.”
“Physically,” I pointed out.
Sighing, he dragged his hands down his face. “I have never known Wrath to abuse a woman, mentally or otherwise.”
“Oh, so throwing her over his shoulder and locking her —”
“Baby, if you did what Sierra did, you better fucking believe I’d throw you overmyshoulder and lock you in my room. Would you consider that abuse?”
“Yes!” I cried.
“No, you wouldn’t.”
“How do you figure?”
“Because you know beyond a shadow of a doubt that I would never hurt you, and that my actions were born of a desperate need to protect you... even if it’s from yourself.”
“Wrath hates Sierra, so that doesn’t apply.”
“No, he doesn’t.”
“Well, she hates him.”
He grinned...annoyingly. “No, she doesn’t.”
I let out a frustrated groan. “You are impossible.”
He sat up, rolling one of my nipples between his finger and thumb. “So I’ve been told on numerous occasions.”
Leaning forward, he sucked that same nipple into his mouth, then bit gently on it. I wanted to swat him away, but what he was doing to my nipples was rather delightful.
“Ori.”
