“Well, you should,” I said. “You were rude.”
He nodded. “No doubt. And I’ll do it again, should the circumstances be the same. Respect the fuck outta you, Liv, but I won’t kowtow to you if you’re doin’ something that’s going to put yourself in danger.”
I wrinkled my nose. “Well, you’re a dick for not doing so.”
He laughed. “Noted.”
I stood and made my way to him, leaning down to kiss his cheek. “Thanks for getting us out safe. I love you.”
“Love you too, sweetheart. And you’re welcome.”
“Okay, the babies want ice cream,” I said. “What do we have?”
“Mint chocolate chip’s in the bottom freezer,” Willow said.
“This is why I love you best,” I said, and headed into the kitchen.

“Doc!” I hiss-pered, grabbing his arm in the dark.
“Fuck!” He sat straight up with a growl. “What’s wrong?”
“Sorry, nothing. Oh, god, honey, sorry.” I tugged on his arm. “The babies are just moving, and I can’t get comfortable. I didn’t mean to freak you out.”
“Jesus, woman, don’t do that.” He turned on his nightstand lamp and rolled to face me. “Are you having any pain?”
I shook my head, taking his hand and settling it on my belly. “Feel.”
As if they knew they needed to show their dad they were okay, both moved inside me and Doc teared up a little as he leaned over and kissed my belly, then me. “You sure you’re not having any pain?”
“Not in my belly, no. I’m stiff and sore, but normal car crash kind of stuff,” I assured him. “The babies feel good.”
He slid my hair behind my ear and stroked my cheek as we faced each other, our heads on our own pillows. “You got any ideas for names?”
“Yes, you?”
