“Why do you have to make this all about you?”

“She’s been your obsession for too long and you’ll never fully be mine as long as your fantasies about her continue. So, for the next forty-eight hours you can rape and torture her all you want, but once you’re done...”

“She’s yours,” Butchy answered.

“Mine towhat? I need to hear you say it.”

“To kill.”

Jaxon

“Dammit! He DEFINITELY disabled her phone,” I growled as I scanned for Harmony’s current location. I wasn’t really surprised, given that Butchy is a security expert and he’d likely disabled his own car’s GPS as well. “How the hell are we going to find her?” I asked as Matt and I hurried to the car.

“Hold on one second,” Matt said, before turning and running back to Brock, who he’d ordered to stay behind with Melody and Lyric. After only a few seconds, Matt returned carrying Brock’s laptop. “Let’s go,” he said.

“Where?” I asked. “They could be headed anywhere.”

“This will help, get in the car,” Matt replied, holding up the laptop as we moved.

“I’m driving,” I said, and Matt knew better than to argue with me.

We got in the car and I peeled out into the street, toward the direction of the nearest freeway exchange. “Which way?” I asked Matt, who was looking intently at the laptop’s screen. “Matt! Where am I going?” I shouted in frustration.

“It looks like they’re on I-5, headed for Vancouver,” Matt shouted.

“How do you know that. What the hell are you looking at?”

“Brock is not only a Boy Scout, but he runs up my annual budget every year with the latest in surveillance gear. After being assigned to this case, the first thing he did was outfit every vehicle Melody Morgan rode in on a regular basis. Per our SOPs, the existence and placements of these trackers was on a need-to-know basis, and Brock never felt like Butchy needed to know.”

“And now we know exactly where they are,” I said, increasing my already dangerous speed.

“You can buy Brock a beer later, if you don’t get us both killed with your driving.”

I appreciated Matt’s attempt at keeping me cool, but my skin felt like it was on fire. If I didn’t find Harmony before Butchy... I couldn’t even allow myself to think of what that creep was capable of. I also didn’t have the time to hate myself for not seeing the signs. I’d be sure to tear into myself once I had Harmony back in the one place I knew she was safe.

My arms.
