“Okay,” she whispered.

I had just pulled into the driveway when I heard Harmony scream and then the line went dead.

Harmony

Idropped my phonejust as a banshee came at me with flailing arms, nails, and the voice from hell. I fought back with everything I had, certain I was done for.

“Freeze!” Jaxon bellowed from somewhere close and the banshee squeaked in fright, but stopped her attack. “Jesus. Mia?”

“What the hell are you doing here, Jax?” Mia demanded. “And who the hell are you?”

This question was directed at me. “I’m Harmony.”

“She’s staying with your parents for a few days,” Jaxon provided, sliding his gun back in his holster. I inched my way toward him, trying to get away from the crazy lady.

“Well, that would have been stellar information to know,” Mia snapped.

“Harmony, this is Mia. She’s one of Cassidy’s sisters. Actually, she’s the certifiable one.”

“Fuck you, Jax. Nothing has ever been certified in writing or otherwise,” she retorted, but her mouth twitched up in a smile. “I’m really sorry for going all kung fu fighting on you, but I couldn’t figure out who the hell would be hiding in my sister’s closet.”

I felt Jaxon’s hand settle on my lower back and I leaned into it. “It’s all good. It’s nice to meet you.”

“What are you doing here, Mia? I thought you were in Seattle,” Jaxon said.

“Nah, I’m over that fucking city. I’m home for a few days.”

“Do your parents know you’re home?”

She crossed her arms. “I was going to surprise them.”

Jaxon grinned. “Pretty sure you’ll do that in spades.”

“Why do you look familiar?” Mia asked me.

“Probably because I look like my sister.”

“Oh, yeah? Who’s your sister?”

I leaned further into Jaxon’s hand needing his comfort. “Melody Morgan.”

“Holy shit, seriously?” She wagged her finger at Jaxon. “Now, that’s someone who’s certifiable.”

“Jesus, Mia,” Jaxon growled.

Mia grimaced. “No offense, Harmony.”

“None taken,” I said. I heard my phone buzz from the closet and rummaged inside, finding it in the corner. “Hello?”

“Bitch, where the hell are you?” Melody snapped.

“None of your business.”

“You need to come back.”

“No,” I said firmly.
