“Not if we don’t want to.” He patted the mattress. “We can even stay all night.”
I shook my head. “I’d like to go back to Wendy’s.”
“Okay.” He sighed as he stood and got dressed without comment.
Harmony
We drove back to Patrick and Wendy’s in silence. Me lost in my thoughts, and Jaxon leaving me to them. There was no way I was the target of whatever this was. I didn’t interact with anyone other than our staff and venue manager-types, and I made damn sure I was out of sight. I didn’t even go to the set when Melody was filming.Myassistant acted as her PA as far as the public was concerned.
We pulled up the long driveway and Jaxon parked the SUV, reaching over and taking my hand. “We’re gonna figure this out. You and your sister are both safe in the meantime.”
“It’s not me,” I said. “It’s really not.”
He smiled gently. “Put it out of your mind. My team has your sister covered, and I’ve got you, okay?”
“Maybe I should go back.”
“No,” he said quicker than I liked.
“Why not? I’m not the one in danger,” I insisted.
He sighed. “Look. We’ve just had the greatest afternoon I can recall in a while, can we maybe repeat that a few more times before we have to get back to reality?”
“A few more times?” I repeated.
“Yes.”
“That’s more than twice.”
Jaxon grinned. “Generally, yes.”
I raised an eyebrow. “You think you can do it more than twice?”
“I have no idea.” He laughed. “But I’m willing to try if you’ll let me.”
“Is Melody really okay?”
