Jaxon
Ipulled my phone outand called my sister-in-law, hoping my plan wouldn’t be thwarted before it was put into action.
“Well, hi there, handsome,” she said, and I heard Carter bellow in the background, “Who the fuck are you callin’ handsome?”
I grinned. “Hey, Cass. Got a huge favor.”
“Lay it on me.”
“No one but me’s layin’ on you, Cass,” Carter snapped. “Who the hell is on the phone?”
Cassidy laughed. “It’s Jaxon, honey. Keep your pants on.”
“Jesus, woman, you’re lucky you’re cute.”
“Ignore him, Jaxon. What do you need?”
I grinned. “How would your parents feel about a visitor for a few days.”
“You know they love visitors, especially if it’s you.”
“Not me. Can’t tell you who it is right now, but can you be the buffer and ask them, please?”
“Honey, you know they love you more than me, just call them.”
“I’d feel better if you did it.”
She sighed. “Okay. Give me five. I’ll call Mom right now.”
“Thanks,” I said, and we rang off.
I stepped back into Harmony’s room just as she dropped a duffle bag on the floor. “I’m ready.”
“Are you seriously leaving me here alone?” Melody snapped.
“You’re not alone,” Harmony countered. “You have a staff of twelve to watch over you.”
“God, you’re such a fucking selfish cunt!”
I heard Butchy hiss out something unintelligible just as Harmony spun to face her sister with a feral growl. “Excuse me?”
“You heard me.”
Harmony squared her shoulders and took a couple of deep breaths. “Thank you, Melody. I appreciate you saying that. Because, at least a cunt is warm and deep. You, on the other hand, are nothing more than a dry, shriveled up, useless vagina! With wrinkles even your botox can’t fix.”
I tried not to laugh as Melody’s hands went to her forehead like she was feeling for nonexistent wrinkles.
“In your vagina!” Harmony added, and scooped up her bag facing me again. “Let’s go.”
I glanced at Butchy who nodded. Not that I needed his permission or blessing, but if he could keep Melody wrangled, maybe I could keep Harmony from killing her.
I led Harmony from the room and down to the lobby where the concierge was waiting. “I’m so sorry for all the trouble, Miss Morgan.”
“I know. I’m going to be out of pocket for a few days. If you need anything, please let Billy know.”
“I will, ma’am. Thank you.”
