Daniel patted Carnage’s shoulders the same way. “I like you, too.”
Carnage slapped his own chest, then Daniel’s. “Gooo ween Trawl!”
“Okay. But let me show you a few things first. Then we’ll go beat Trawl.”
“Enthrall,” Carolena said. “And Destroy.”
Daniel looked at her and grinned. “We met Destroy yesterday. He seemed harmless enough. Haven’t met Enthrall yet, but I think I’ll call him Trawl. It’s good enough for Carnage.”
“Oh, good, Lord. He’s one of them already,” Carolena said with a smile.
“Are you surprised?” Avaleigh asked.
“No, I’m really not. The good ones always recognize each other.”
“Do you mind if I go with Carnage to beat Trawl?” Daniel asked Avaleigh.
“Of course not. Go have fun,” Avaleigh said.
“We can go too, if you like. I’ll introduce you to Rowan and Felicity while the men play golf,” Carolena said.
“I’d like that,” Avaleigh said. “Are you coming with us, or are you going back home?” she asked Angelle and Boon.
“It’s up to you, Angelle. Whatever you’d prefer,” Boon said.
“I think I’d like to go. I think it’s better to meet a few people at a time instead of all at once,” Angelle said.
“And then you’ll know some of them for when Lily has the party for Tempest and her family.”
“Is that how she’s doing it? As a party for Tempest and her family?”
“I think so.”
“That’s so much better than ‘come meet Boon’s mate’.”
“Isn’t it, though?” Boon asked. “She was trying to figure out a way to take the focus off of us, while still having us there and kind of the focus. You forget I don’t like a lot people around either.”
“’Mon!!!” Carnage insisted, anxious to get started so he could outplay Enthrall.
Chapter 15
An hour later Daniel and Boon stood back and watched Carnage very gently line up his club with the gum ball they were practicing with and tap it into the cup that doubled as a hole to putt the ball into.
“I think you’ve got it. You picked it up quickly,” Daniel said.
“He’s right. You’ve got it, Pop. You just can’t lose your temper because then you lose all your finesse,” Boon said.
Carnage grinned at him. “My finesh,”.
“Yeah, not really. Especially not if you’re irritated,” Boon said.
Carnage grinned even bigger.
“I know you’re smiling, but that’s a scary ass smile,” Daniel said.
Carnage laughed.
“Annnd that’s no better,” Daniel said.
