“I think you should stick around and find out.”
“Oh, I plan on it, mister. You’re going to get sick of me.
“Never. Impossible.”
“Even after we’re married for ten years, I have gray hairs, and can’t shed the last twenty pounds after giving birth to your four children?”
Nash exploded with laughter. “Where the hell did all of that come from?”
“The depths of my mind.”
“I still wouldn’t be sick of you. Carrying four of my children? You deserve a medal, a million orgasms, and a few gray hairs. Wear them proudly.” He kissed me again and again.
And then he ate me out until I orgasmed again and again, finally falling into a deep sleep hours later.
When we woke the next morning, snowed in and not moving from bed, we declared a truce.
No longer would be compete against each other. Instead, we would work together, and make the best Christmas display this side of the Appleridge mountain.
“You know, I only challenged you to a competition as a way to talk to you more.”
My jaw went slack at his confession as our legs twirled around each other. We’d only escaped from bed a few times, mainly for food and the bathroom, including a quick shower. The TV played softly in the background, an old classic replay of a movie, the snow still falling fast and furious outside. “Are you serious? I thought you wanted to compete.”
“As long as it meant spending more time around you, I didn’t care what we were doing.”
“I’m canceling the inflatables I ordered.” I declared, while laughing. “I need the money for gifts, anyway.”
“No more fake snow. Ever. Shit cost me four hundred dollars.”
“Four hundred?” I shouted, the two of us dissolving into a fit of giggles.
“We suck.” I stated.
“Yeah, we do. Just tell me how you feel next time.”
“You’re one to talk.” I stuck out my tongue at him as my stomach growled. “Are you hungry?”
Nash’s eyes lit up. “Wait until you try my omelets.”
“Yes, feed me, sir, feed me!”
“Oh, I will, baby. In so many ways.”
EPILOGUE
Nash
Six months later
Our decoratingcompetition didn’t happen, but that didn’t mean we hadn’t fallen hopelessly in love with the other.
As the days passed until Christmas, we decorated each other’s yards, surprising the other with new over the top decorations we could make fun of.
On Christmas Day, we met each other’s families for the first time, introducing her to my mom, while I met her parents and younger brother. We rang in the holiday together, over prime rib, mashed potatoes, and mac n cheese, along with pumpkin pie for dessert.
In between celebrating Christmas and the new year, Aubrey and I took our time in getting to know each other. We cooked each other dinner and talked about our hopes and dreams. Our plans for the future and what we saw for ourselves. She wantedtwo children while I wanted three, but I also wasn’t the one carrying them. I’d be happy with whatever she gave me.
We spent most of our time in my cabin, the space larger and more updated, as I continued the renovations. It took a while, most of my free time now dedicated to Aubrey, but I kept a never-ending to-do list. Since she rented, when her six-month lease expired in the spring, I asked her to move in with me.
