“It’s not an easy answer, Pazessca. Sometimes, no news is good news; but in this case, it’s really up in the air. They wouldn’t go into hiding at all unless they felt seriously threatened. It could be our threat, or even The Syndicate. I just don’t know.” Synn bites his lip as he exhales, clearly pent-up with stress.

“Fuck, okay.” I look toward Hunter. “What about the Solomons? Are they still in the same place?”

Sam makes a growly sound next to me. I reach over and squeeze his hand.

“Same place, oddly,” Hunter tells me. “They must not feel the need to move.”

I grin, glancing at Sam. I lean over to whisper in his ear. “Want to kill them with me?”

“Fuck yes, Em,” Sam snarls.

“Oh no you fucking don’t,” Razor raises his voice. “I know what you’re thinking.”

“Oh, fuck off, Razor. We have every right to end those motherfuckers,” I argue.

“Not to change the subject here, but we have confirmed all the other information about The Retreat, and my father’s role in it. We even dug up the name of the original owner. The sole purpose of that place is to experiment on mentally addled young people, and to brainwash the ones that ‘pass’ their fucked-up torture sessions,” Purge informs us.

“We need to get that place shut down,” I emphasize. “There’s no way I’m going to ignore that it’s still standing.”

“ZYGOS is working on that very thing. We need time to set a plan in place,” Jax tells me, turning from the computer screen.

“I want to make it clear: I want every patient out of there. No one is getting forgotten.” I cross my arms, solid on my stance.

“We’re on the same page, Phoenyxx,” Jax assures me.

“So, what do we do for now, bro?” Trikk asks.

“Just relax and live your lives. Carefully, though. If you plan to leave the premises, we must be informed. Armed security will be with you every time.”

I internally tut at that. I'm already forming a plan to get me and Sam out unseen to take care of dear old Betty and Matthew. I’m practically salivating at the thought of torturing and killing them.

“We good to go?” I ask restlessly.

Jax nods, so we all file out.

Purge and Hunter come with us. They look exhausted. They've probably been at it the whole time, not taking any breaks.

I lead the way to the kitchen. “Everyone needs to eat. I have a feeling that’s been neglected.”

Grunts come from a few of my guys, but they do as I ask. I make sure Sam and I get some food, too.

One thing I love about this place is there’s always hot food ready, no matter the time. It's always something delicious too.A handful of ZYGOS guys do most of the cooking, with Trikk lending a hand when needed. And my man sure can cook.

Once we finish eating, I capture Sam’s attention. I jerk my head slightly to indicate we should go.

“We’re going to go nap,” I lie.

I'm still keyed up from the kill, and not in the least bit tired.

“Okay, love you,” rings out from everyone.

I take Sam’s hand, and we go back to our room.

I think about Valley, Bryan, and Cynthia since I haven’t really seen them since the concert. They're likely together. I'll just fill them in later.

After the Solomons stop breathing.
