Synn, Razor, and Purge stop abruptly as they take in the sight, Maverick, Tyler, and Trav on their heels.
“Damn,” Maverick whispers.
“Leave!” Synn shouts to Jax’s guys, and they back out the open door.
“My God,” Purge whispers in awe.
He spies Ghost’s phone and grabs it off the table.
“My Fiasca. You’re so sexy dripping in blood,” Razor says hoarsely.
Ghost stands slowly, taking my hand to help me rise. He picks me up, holding me to his chest.
Synn tries to take me, but Ghost growls loudly.
“Okay, man. Can we cover her, though?” Synn asks.
Purge strips his shirt off, draping it across me. I clutch it to me, loving the scent of him.
We march out and back up to where everyone else is waiting.
My eyes close, and I murmur in satisfaction. I feel like I'm high on the best drug in the world.
Chapter 26
Sam
My heart sinksinto my shoes when I see Ghost carrying a bloodied Em to us. She's covered in someone’s shirt, but it’s clear she’s naked under it. What the hell happened?
“Em,” I call out, rushing to Ghost’s side.
“I’m fine, Sam. Better than fine, actually.” Em grins, mirth in her eyes.
“We took Maxim out,” Ghost says matter-of-factly.
“And celebrated it,” Em giggles.
“Report,” Jax snaps at his men who were with them.
“From what I can gather, those two tortured the prisoner, then were... together in the aftermath.” Maverick turns beet red at that last part.
“I video-called my father and forced him to watch,” Ghost admits with a straight face.
“What?” Frost hollers.
“Bro, you sure that was a good idea? They're in hiding. We don’t want to lure them out yet,” Trikk says next.
Ghost just shrugs. “It is what it is. For what it’s worth, I think I scared him even more. He knows I’m coming for him.”
Em pipes up. “I found my bloodlust. I literally held his heart then squashed it.” She breaks into laughter, tears rolling down her cheeks.
Harris frowns. “Is she in shock?”
“Nah, man. She's giddy from the kill,” Synn affirms.
“Can I bring her to her room?” Ghost asks Jax. “We got the info required.”
“Go ahead, but come find me immediately after. Harris, Purge, and Synn—hang back please. We need to debrief, then I need Purge and Harris with the hackers.”
