Peals of laughter come from behind me, and I turn to see Valley and Cynthia.
“Bestie. Guess what? I found something cool to go do,” Valley says excitedly.
“Yeah, cool, cool. I’m so happy,” Cynthia adds.
“Okay... what?” I ask.
“I know you don’t know much about music, but I found out an 80s band is performing live close by tonight. Ever heard of Poison?”
I yell loudly, “Oh my God. No way! Hell yeah; ‘Every Rose Has It’s Thorn’ is an awesome song.”
“Joan Jett is the opening act,” Valley adds.
“Those bands are on the mix tape Trikk made for me. How do we get tickets?”
Cynthia breaks out into a wide smile. “She already bought tickets, wifey. Front row, too.”
“I dipped into the bank account my parents set me up with,” Valley shrugs.
I jump up and down and do a happy dance, the girls joining me.
“Whoo-hoo! Shit—I have to find something to wear,” I muse.
“Wear for what?” a deep voice asks from behind me.
I press a hand to my chest and whirl to see Synn. “You about gave me a heart attack. Valley got us tickets for a concert tonight.”
“Nope.” Synn shakes his head.
My face turns red as I start to argue, but Valley breaks in. “Look, dude—there will be hella security with us. Lighten up, please?”
Ah, my bestie.
“I’m going, too. Not open for a debate,” Synn adamantly proclaims.
“Fine,” I agree. “But you need to secure your own ticket.”
Synn grabs me and tosses me over his shoulder.
“Hey, put me down, you big oaf!” I pound lightly on his back with my fists. “Where are you taking me?”
“Do you trust me, Pazessca?” Synn purrs.
“Yes...”
“Good. Close your eyes. I'll tell you when you can open them.”
“Ugh!” I complain, but close them, anyway.
“Get her back her with plenty of time to get ready for tonight!” Valley calls out.
Synn walks quickly, taking me down hallways, then downstairs.
I huff impatiently. “Come on...”
Synn chuckles but keeps going.
We walk straight for a minute, then he stops. “Alright, Pazessca. Open your eyes.”
