Lana stood up and went to where she heard Dani’s voice and looked into the hidey hole her son had made. She knew strong ass military men who would be jealous of how good a seven-year-old kid did compared to them.

“Okay, baby. Auntie Cullen is here. I’m going to reach in and pull you out so we can take you to the hospital and get you all better. Okay?”

Lana watched as Cullen pulled Dani out of the hole and held her tight. The kids were dirty and shaking.

“Hey, baby.” Lana pulled Dani out of Cullen’s arms and held her tight.

“Hi, Mommy! Is Daddy ok? The bad men hurt him. He made me and Jay run away and hide.”

“We’ll find him, baby. Right now, I need to get you and your brother looked at and make sure you guys are okay and get your owies looked at.”

Lana reluctantly handed Dani back to Cullen and held onto Jay’s hand as they hiked back to where the vehicles were at waiting. She sent a text to Ryan and Swift to let them know the kids were found and that they were heading back to the crash site.

When they got there, everyone was gathering around to check on the kids themselves. Now, the hunt was on to find Jayson and make those responsible pay.

There would be no mercy. There would be no kindness.

They drove the nurses nuts at the hospital, keeping the room on lockdown and determined to vet the doctors and nurses who treated the twins. They didn’t care anymore.

They weren’t taking any chances of someone coming to finish the job of either taking the twins out or kidnapping them. Better pissed off than pissed on was their motto.

Once the kids were cleared to go home after Dani had to have a couple of stitches on the wound in her leg, they went back to Jayson’s place since the kids would have their room to escape to.

Once the kids were put down for a nap, which neither fussed against, especially after a bath, the entire crew met up in the living room with Sunny and Geo sitting in the hallway to listen while they guarded the kids in their rooms. Maybe it was a little over the top, but they didn’t care what anyone thought of them at the moment.

Ryan called in a few favors for traffic cams that were in the area and once they had that, they were off to figure out who was who and where they would have gone. Lana figured the most logical place would be Rusty’s since it was a bar, it wasn’t open at the moment, and everyone was afraid of Rusty.

Geo called a hacker friend of hers to help them get into the security camera feed at the bar so they could look at what was going on both inside and outside the bar. The hacker even found an updated layout of the bar, one that wasn’t even in the deeds that were public record.

“Looks like ole Rusty has lots of secrets that people don’t know about. The bar even has a basement. That would be the most logical of places to hold him until they need to move him or do whatever they are going to do with him.”

“Can anyone see if there’s a way in besides going in through the front door? Is there a way for them to escape if we go in that way?”

“Here. And here.” Lana pointed out two locations that showed up for her.

Lana’s phone rang, making her jump at the suddenness of it. “Pennington.”

“Ah, Ms. Pennington, or is it Mrs. Kenwood? Either way, you’re the person I was calling for. You should have kept your nose out of my business, young lady. Now, you and your friends are going to suffer for it.”

“Senator Hubbard. You started it. I’m just doing my job and ending it. Where’s Jayson?”

“Eh, he’s alive for now. Can’t say the same to you and your team. You shouldn’t have gone to that reporter friend of yours. Now, her death will be on your hands once I’m done with you. I may even leave you alive so you can mourn all your friends, your kids, and your husband’s deaths. Who knows, depends on my mood when I deal with you.”

“Are you done wasting your breath, Senator? I have more important things to get to than listen to you drone on and on like it’s a political campaign. Which, by the way, I’m voting for your opponent, so I don’t have to listen to your boring speeches.”

“You disrespectful bitch!”

“Now, now, Senator. No need for temper tantrums. Just kindly tell me where you are and I’ll come and kick your ass face to face. Because you pissed off the wrong woman. You not only hurt my husband, but you went after my kids. The gloves are coming off, Senator. You, your sons, your wife, nor the men who work for you will stop me from taking out the trash.”

CHAPTER

SIXTY-FOUR

Lana and the team parked their vehicles a mile from where the bar was located. They were waiting until it was dark.

Today was the only day the bar was closed, so they knew that whatever that was planned was going down tonight. Geo and Sunny stayed behind with the twins with a plan in case they were ambushed while they were taking out the bar.

The team dressed in all black with night vision goggles, their guns, their automatic rifles, and a few extra goodies just because they could. They were going all out when they went in after Jayson.
