“Me, too. Ashley is unpredictable, yet you still know what she will do. I know she will show up here. I know she will tryto drug him. It’s the part where he rejects her again that is unpredictable.”

“We’ve got your back, Ice.”

Lana knew Rocky, Cullen, Hawk, and Viper had her back. Hell, her own team had her back.

After she, Cullen, and Rocky had gotten some much needed rest, along with those from Team Valkyrie who returned to Hellburn Falls, they had filled in those that had stayed behind on everything. Before doing so, they did a thorough search of the house to make sure there were no listening devices or cameras that didn’t belong to them in the house.

Once that was done, they set out jammers in case someone was trying to listen in from outside. They weren’t taking any chances for their case to slip away.

Once they had a solid plan, it was go time. Now, she just prayed Jayson headed her sgt.’s plea to trust her.

“Movement at ten o’clock. Damn, she’s ballsy parking her car in the driveway,” Viper growled darkly.

“She knows I’m not home, so Jayson will think it’s me.” Lana shrugged, pulling out her phone to pull up the cameras inside the house.

They watched Ashley plead with Jayson for him to open the door and listen to what she was saying. When Jayson finally relented, she knew it was game time.

Lana watched as Ashley relayed the false rumor that was to be said within earshot of the psychotic woman. She watched as Jayson pushed Ashley off of him and called her a liar.

When Ashley pulled out her phone and showed it to Jayson, Lana knew the party was getting good. She watched Jayson plop onto the couch, his head in his hands.

Ashley went into the kitchen and pulled two beer bottles out of the fridge. They watched as Ashley spiked the one that she was planning on giving to Jayson.

She opened her car door as soon as Jayson drank the beer in one go, then leaned back on the sofa with his eyes closed. Lana didn’t even have to look behind her to know that her team was behind her ready to go into action.

When they heard Ashley scream in anger, they ran the rest of the way to the front door, kicking it in. When they entered the house, weapons drawn, they found a half-naked Ashley sitting on the floor, pounding the floor with her hands and feet.

Jayson was on the couch glaring at the woman before turning glazed eyes up on them. When he saw Lana, he tried to get up off of the couch but failed.

“You guys deal with this bitch. I’ll get Jayson in a cold shower to sober him up.”

Lana helped Jayson into the shower, fully clothed. When she heard Jayson cursing, she knew he was coming around.

“Lana?”

“I’m here. Let’s get you dried off and into clean clothes. I’ll explain everything after we deal with Ashley,” Lana promised, her hands on both sides of his face, forcing him to look into her eyes.

“Explain to me now. I know Bueller told me to trust you, but she was overheard at the damn bar claiming you’ve been having an affair with Ortega for a while now,” Jayson seethed through clenched teeth.

“I know. We planted that rumor on purpose because I knew Ashley would come here to you. She’s obsessed with you.”

“Why? Damn it, why?” Jayson asked, his eyes searching hers.

Lana sighed heavily as she stepped out of the shower, shivering. She started stripping off her clothes when she felt Jayson walk up behind her and wrap his arms around her.

“Talk to me, Lana. What is going on?” Jayson pleaded this time.

Lana turned around in Jayson’s arms and looked up into his eyes. She trusted this man with her entire being.

So, Lana told him everything that she’d figured out and why they set Ashley onto him without telling him. She bit her lower lip at the end, waiting for him to explode on her at what she’d relayed to him.

“I get why you did it. I don’t like it because it could have gone wrong in so many ways. But I get it. Just don’t leave me out on anything else. We need to read Ryan in on this as well.”

“We will. Right now, we need to get Ashley to talk about what she knows. If she thinks she’s got a shot at your forgiveness, she might talk and beg for a deal.” Lana sighed, leaning her head onto Jayson’s chest.

“Do you want her to take a plea deal?” Jayson asked skeptically.

“No. Because she’s got charges she needs to face for drugging you in the past and for attempted rape. Plus, we need to find out where Peter is. Ashley knows more than she’s telling us. I also want to know what Brewer, Ellers, and Jones parts are in all of this.”
