Lana glared at Angelo. He always loved messing with her.
Making her work for the information. Made her want to punch him in the throat.
“No, but I’ve seen her. She claims her pops was the mayor of this town. But she is now running his show. She and Rodric have hooked up in Mexico a few times. They have also met in San Diego and a few times in Texas, where she’s originally from.”
Jayson and Lana both gasped at that bit of news. What the hell did he just say?
“Come again? She’s from Texas and her dad was the mayor here now, or at one time?” Lana asked for clarity on Angelo’s statement.
“Yep.” Angelo popped his ‘p’.
Lana looked over at Jayson, who looked just as confused as she did. She pulled out her phone and made a call.
“Manny, I need you to do a deep dive into an Ashley Maylan and a Jayme Kenwood. Not sure what her maiden name was. Include a deep dive into both Ashley and Jayme’s parents and stepparents. We are missing something here. I also need you to arrange an extraction for Angelo. His cover may have been blown. We aren’t taking any chances with him.”
Lana hung up her phone as she came back into the living room to see Jayson pull out his phone. When she sat down next to him, she saw he was looking at video cam footage from his front door.
“Is this her? The one that was messing with Rodric?”
Lana saw him pause on Ashley’s face. He was of the same frame of mind as she was.
“No, but I’ve seen her before. I think they are sisters or something.” Angelo shrugged as he leaned back in his seat.
“What about her?” Lana showed him a photo of Jayme.
“Yeah. That’s Janelle. Rodric’s old lady. Although I don’t think she takes the relationship as seriously as he does,” Angelo admitted with a laugh.
Lana knew what he meant by that statement. Now it was a matter of figuring out who the baby’s daddy really was.
“What if it isn’t Ryan’s? Jayson, call Ryan and see if you can get him over here. I have some questions. The rest of the team should be here shortly.”
Lana listened to Jayson let his brother know they had a break in the case, and his presence was needed. She prayed that he didn’t tell Jayme anything and that she wouldn’t alert anyone.
Lana went back into the bedroom and changed out of her nightclothes after a quick shower. She quickly put on regular street clothes then called her team about Angleo and what she’d learned.
She knew shit was about to hit the fan, but how much, she wasn’t sure. Things were getting really ugly, and she wasn’t sure how much more they could take with everything.
Lana went back into the living room just as everyone arrived. Ryan looked at Angelo in curiosity until it hit him who the man was.
Rocky pulled out her weapon and aimed it at Angelo and glared at the man. Lana had to step in front of her best friend before she did anything too drastic.
“Hey, lower the weapon. He came to us and turned himself in. He got word we were looking for him.” Lana put her hand on Rocky’s gun and lowered it herself.
“Got word how? No one other than us knows we’re looking for him and his crew,” Sgt. Bueller said, looking between Lana, Jayson, and Angelo.
“Apparently not. Rodric Torres received a call tonight from a female that their contact within the police department let them know we were looking for them. Ryan, I need a few answers from you before we go forward with what we will think of doing.”
“Okay. Why do I feel like I’m getting ready to be interrogated and mildly excited and aroused at the same time?” Ryan asked, looking cheekily at his brother.
“Don’t make me punch you in the face and mess up that pretty face,” Jayson growled at his brother, rolling his eyes.
“Ryan, when was the last time you had sex with your wife?” Lana interrupted, cutting straight to the point.
Lana watched as Ryan’s face held no emotions at first then embarrassment. She had a feeling she knew what his answer would be based on what she’d learned already in the last twenty-four hours.
“The night we had the one-night stand,” Ryan admitted sheepishly.
“Wait, you’re telling us you’ve been married to this chick for almost six months and the only time you two have had sex was the night you supposedly knocked her up?” Rocky asked in shock as she looked at Lana and Ryan.
