“This isn’t over, asshole,” I said, jerking open my car door. “You cost us a deal worth hundreds of thousands. Possibly millions. You are a fucking dead man.”

As I got into the car, Noah mimed tears rolling down his cheeks. Sarcastic son of a bitch.

Starting the engine, I hit the gas so the back tires would slide on the ice, bringing me dangerously close to where Noah stood. Forcing him to jump back to avoid being struck. I saw him flip me the middle finger in my rearview mirror as I drove away.

I should have run the bastard over.

CHAPTER TWO

DOM

More than once I almost slid off the road during my angry drive home. When I pulled up in front of the house I shared with my friends Auryn, Stray, and Stray’s fiancée Codie, I was beyond fuming. The need to break Noah Cunningham in half consumed me.

After parking in front of the house, I sent a text message to Rebel telling him that there was a problem and he should swing by when he was finished with his family dinner. He wouldn’t like this.

In my haste to get inside the house and out of the cold, I slipped on the sidewalk, managing to catch myself before going down. Knowing that it was Auryn’s turn to shovel and salt this shit, I bitterly cussed him out beneath my breath.

Shoving the front door open, I kicked off my shoes, pointing at Auryn who sat on the couch with three lines of blow cut up in front of him. “You were supposed to shovel the sidewalk, dick. I almost broke my ass because of you.”

“I’ll get to it. I was waiting for it to stop snowing first.” Giving a careless one shoulder shrug, he leaned in to sniff a line through a twenty.

“Bullshit. You’re a lazy fuck. It hasn’t snowed since last night.” I placed my revolver on the table near the front door before stalking through the living room to the kitchen beyond. I needed a fucking drink.

“What’s your problem?” Auryn called after me. “You’re more of a moody bitch than usual.”

Ignoring him, I grabbed a bottle of tequila from the cupboard, breaking the seal. Even though I’d rather drink from the bottle, I fetched a shot glass, pouring it right to the top. I didn’t need salt or lime or any of that crap. The tequila shot went straight down the hatch. No doubt it burned like a motherfucker. I swore up a storm as I poured a second shot.

Rebel had been so insistent that I take someone else with me. Like he’d had some sixth sense that things would go wrong. Too bad he hadn’t known it would be Noah. I was starting to feel like that man haunted me. Turning up everywhere. Always ready to hit me with a snarky remark or cocky grin.

After taking my second shot, I slammed the glass down hard on the counter. It did nothing to relieve me of the urge to break someone in half.

Auryn entered the room then with Stray right behind him. They exchanged a look before taking a seat at the kitchen island where I stood.

“What’s going on, Dom?” Stray watched as I poured a third shot, his blue eyes widening when he noticed how much was already missing from the bottle. “You do know that’s a double sized shot glass, right?”

That explained the warm tingles shooting through my limbs. I groaned, rubbing the bridge of my nose as I leaned heavily against the counter. “I went to meet the guy about the deal. The one who said he could hook us up with organs from prisoners. Fucking Noah was there. He was stalking the guy.Like he’d been hired to go after him or something. He ruined everything.”

“What do you mean? What happened?” Auryn’s pupils were heavily dilated despite the bright kitchen light, making his brown eyes look black. He did way too much blow.

“Me and the guy were talking. He was in a hurry to leave, but we’d pretty much reached an agreement. Noah came up on him with a syringe. He didn’t get a chance to use it. The guy accused me of setting him up and took off. The deal is dead.” Hearing myself repeat it that way only pissed me off even more. “I need to kill that son of a bitch. He’s gotten away with too much for too long.”

Despite the narcotics raging through his system, Auryn still managed to pull something useful out of his ass. “Maybe Noah knows where we can find this guy. He must have more information about him than we do. Maybe if we can talk to him and explain the situation, we can get the deal back on track.”

“That’s actually not a bad idea.” Stray nodded. “One of us should talk to Noah though. Not you, Dom. Things are way too volatile between the two of you.”

That was putting it lightly.

“He might be at that party tonight. The one at the frat house on Greenbury. Maybe we should swing by.” Producing a joint from his pocket, Auryn passed it to me. “Here. Try to chill yourself out a bit. We can’t take you to that party if you’re going to lose your shit.”

If there was a chance that Noah would be at this party tonight, nothing would stop me from going. Certainly not Auryn. Pulling my phone from my back pocket, I sent another message to Rebel telling him to meet us instead at the party later tonight. Then I sent a message to Casper asking him to meet us as well.

Casper had lived with us here until recently when he moved out after a personal experience made it difficult for himto stay. He’d been much happier since getting into his own place, which was exactly what he deserved.

Downing one more double shot of tequila, I took the joint Auryn held out to me, lighting it up. Several deep inhales did help ease the immediate need to kill. However, it did nothing to dull the deep rooted hatred burning inside me.

Stray shoved away from the counter, pushing his black hair off his forehead. “I’m going to let Codie know we’re heading out to that party in a bit. She’ll want time to get ready. Don’t drink anymore, Dom. You’re an absolute menace when you’re drunk.”

Joke was on him. I was feeling pretty drunk already. Not wasted though. I wouldn’t let it get to that point. I needed to keep my head clear enough for when we encountered Noah tonight.
