Fuck. I need to stop.
When she gets closer, away from the glare of the outside light, I can see her smile - she takes my breath away.
“Are you gonna hold that so I can get the fucking screw in, or are you gonna stare over your shoulder all day?” Gray growls on the other side of the stall wall.
Jerking my head around, I see the hinge is no longer lined up with the target holes. I line it back up without responding, but now I want him to hurry.
Nora steps up next to me and slides her hand across my shoulder; her fingers feel cool through my shirt from the brisk day. “Sloane asked me to tell you lunch is ready.”
Turning my head, I kiss the back of her hand. “We’re almost done.” She squeezes my shoulder and turns to walk away.
A small snort pulls my attention to the hole in the wall, and I see Gray smiling like an asshole. He shakes his head. “Never thought I’d see the day my little brother had eyes for only one woman.”
I smirk and growl, “Fuck you.”
As we’re walking up to the house to get lunch, my phone buzzes in my pocket. It’s Callum. Veering away from Gray, I turn toward Marley’s stables and away from the house when I answer. “Harlow.”
“Did you get your flight info?”
“It came through last night with the link for available real estate.”
“I thought since she’s coming with you, you would probably want to get something better than an apartment.”
If she comes with me. I haven’t told her yet, but I don’t care where we live as long as she’s with me.
Not wanting to talk to him about my living arrangements with Nora, I give a short answer. “That’s all up to her.”
“That’s not the only reason I called. Spits says the boyfriend has been making some strategic movements regarding accounts and money today.”
“Ex-boyfriend.” It comes out as a growl.
He chuckles like an asshole. “Sorry, ex-boyfriend. Anyway, he’s started the process of creating another business in another woman’s name. Large amounts of money are being moved.”
So, the fucker doesn’t know we’re looking into him yet; he still thinks he’s king of the fucking world and has moved onto another unsuspecting woman. “Is everything being sent to the attorney, I’ll pay whatever he needs to give this his full attention. Also, the FBI wants his contact info.”
“Don’t worry about payment right now; I’ve got him on retainer for the team. We can settle that later. Send me the brothers-in-law’s info and I’ll tell him to reach out today.”
I’ve never traded or invested in stocks, so I don’t know the ins and outs of how it works, but now that he’s got another woman lined up, it’s bothering me. “Why would he be here if he’s shifting everything?”
“I wondered the same thing and asked Spits to look into it. There are quite a few rules, and it looks like he got lax with Nora. I think her leaving blindsided him. He thought he had the perfect puppet, and he’s been scrambling for the past few months. I’m sure it’s possible for him to forge her signature digitally, but that’s fucking risky. He put his eggs in one basket and now he needs her permission to cover his ass, while sinking her in the process.”
Motherfucker.
That piece of shit is here to dissolve everything he’s created with her while leaving her in the hot seat.

NORA
SLOANE ANDI laugh at the same time as we look at the blob of butter splashed across my shirt. She asked me to beat them after I asked if I could help, but I didn’t realize the butter had already melted when she handed me the bowl and the beaters.
She takes it from me with a chuckle. “I’ve got this, go change your shirt.”
I roll my eyes. “I’ll be right back.” Flipping what’s on my shirt in the sink, I look out the window to see Tuck still on his phone. Gray came in a few minutes ago by himself, and I’ve been wondering who he’s talking to.
His back is to me, his weight on his good leg and his hand on his hip. His broad shoulders taper perfectly into his lean waist, making a perfect triangle. Even from this angle, I can see the bulk of his shoulders, and I remember how they felt under my hands last night.
Oh my gosh, I’ve got to stop. Clearing my throat, I move away from the window and try to hide my flushed cheeks as I walk out of the kitchen.
