“Nah,” I said, not liking the idea of her with any other man, even if that man was happy with another woman. “You ride with me.”

She curled her upper lip at me. “I’m not riding with you.”

My lips tilted up at the corners. “Mama, I think you forget who calls the shots here, and it’s certainly not you.”

She rolled her eyes. “Dictators aren’t my fucking thing, Blayke.”

I snorted a laugh. “Theycanbe. In fact, I’d love it if they were.”

She stared at me for a moment, then shook her head in disbelief. “You have real bad luck when you’re thinking, don’t you?”

That time, my laugh was loud enough to pierce the air. “Christ, I really like you.” I patted my seat behind me. “Come on. I think food will help you calm down a bit.”

“Not having to deal with you would calm me down a lot more than food will,” she griped. But nonetheless, she moved forward, already pulling her helmet down on her head. Once she was behind me, she scooted forward and wrapped her arms around my waist, her slim thighs bracketing my hips and squeezing me. Alejandro pulled into traffic, and I easily fell in behind him, enjoying the feeling of Noah riding behind me.

Shebelongedthere. The way she felt pressed against my back… it wasright.

I just had to convince her she belonged with me. Not like that would be hard or anything.

I snorted at myself. Who the fuck was I kidding? Wearing this woman down was going to be a challenge. But damn if I didn’t love a good challenge.

Noah

It took about an hour for my tire to be fixed—barely even long enough for me to scarfe down the small meal I’d ordered. Alejandro had to order for me since I couldn’t speak a lick of Spanish, and he’d ordered me a burrito that was the best fucking burrito I’deverhad. Like holy fuck mini-orgasm in my mouth kind of good.

Even Blayke had let me be while I’d eaten. Had he squished me between him and the wall in the booth we were sitting in? Yeah, he did, but other than that, he’d left me alone. I didn’t one hundred percent know what to make of Blayke yet. He seemed to like having me around, and clearly he thought I was capable of being one of them if he’d pushed for me to be allowed to prospect—granted on averyshort time frame, but I was being given the opportunity, nonetheless.

There was something about Blayke that called to me. He was a charmer, a jokester, and he loved riling me up. He didn’t take offense to anything I threw his way, and he just rolled with the punches. But despite his chilled out, very laid back demeanor,I could sense a darkness inside him lingering just beneath the surface. One that would be deadly if he ever released it from its chains and shackles.

I wanted to keep him at arms length. I had a goal. I wanted to become part of this MC, and getting tangled up with Blayke could ruin that for me. I didn’t want to just be some biker’s old lady. I had absolutely nothing against them, but I wasn’t the kind of woman to stay out of club business. I wasn’t afraid of getting my hands dirty, and Ineededto be part of the action.

Butfuck, the thought of getting tangled up with Blayke wasexhilarating. And fucking tempting.

“You and Blayke will be up those stairs,” Alejandro said, pointing to a set of stairs off to the left of the fancy sitting room. Alejandro’s home wasmassiveand way too big for just one person. But I’d taken one look at him back in the clubhouse in his Armani suit and shiny shoes and had known he liked to flaunt his wealth. This house was just more proof of that.

“Why the fuck do I have to be so close to you?” I demanded, looking at Blayke. He had to be the one behind this. It just had his damn name written all over it, the cocky bastard.

He smirked, his blue eyes glinting in the low lighting of the room. Mischief swirled in their depths, and my belly swooped. He was clearly a man who knew what he wanted and went after it. And he had no qualms about manipulating certain situations to his advantage. It should have been a toxic red flag. Such a huge red flag, in fact, that there should’ve been someone running around behind him waving one to warn me away.

But dammit, Ilikedthat he wanted me so badly that he’d be manipulative in claiming me.

That didn’t mean I’d make this easy on him though. I was going to make him work to have me.

“Don’t pretend you don’t want to be right next door to me, mama,” he teased.

Mama. That fucking name should not get me as hot as it did. I wasn’t one for cute little pet names, but there was something about the way that word rolled off Blayke’s tongue that made me want to hear it more and more.

“Right next door?” I snapped. I looked at Alejandro, who was watching us with a hint of amusement and also annoyance. How someone felt both things at once, I’d never know, but he managed it. “I want a different room. I’mnotrooming next door to him.”

“His prospect, his orders,” Alejandro drawled. “Out of my hands, Noah.”

“Come on, mama. It won’t be so bad,” Blayke said, drawing my agitated gaze back to his. In the face of my aggravation, he just looked fucking gleeful. “I don’t even snore loudly, so you won’t hear me through the walls.” He leaned in so close to me, I could see the gray flecks in his blue eyes. “But if you want to hear something else, you just let me know, and I can make it happen.”

Pressing my hand to his shoulder, I pushed him back from me, making him chuckle. “I’d call you an idiot, but calling you that would be an insult to all stupid people,” I bit out. But even though my voice was cold, I was feeling all warm and fuzzy.

Goddamn him for being so fucking smooth. He wasn’t making this play-hard-to-get thing easy.
