“I know when you work,” he cuts me off. “I’ll see you tonight. It wasn’t a question, but a statement.”
I nod when he lets go of my face. “Don’t run away from me this time.”
A smirk finally touches his lips. “Only plans I have are to sit on the barstool and watch you work.”
“That’s a good stalker.”
Beck’s smile grows, and in an instant his arms come back around my waist pulling me up for another hug. My feet leave the floor with a small giggle. “Beck, let me go.”
He leans his head back. “I don’t know if I can.”
The butterflies seem to find a revival. I can’t stop the blush from coming to my face, but I can try to mask it with a bit of an eye roll. “You can. Now, go give Dex hell for the fun of it.”
“Always do.” Beck lowers me down slowly, before letting me go. “See you later, Killer.”
“Yeah, yeah, now go.” I move to Dottie to give her some goodbye pets, and make my way over to the kitchen. If he pulls me in one more time, I’m canceling on his behalf and we’ll spend the morning naked.
Which really sounds like the better plan, but alas he walks out with a wink before shutting the door behind them.
Picking up my phone, I send a text to Reagan to see if she can meet me at the storefront, then I get my reply from Callie and Emma. Here we go.
Callie
But I have so many follow ups.
Emma
Second ^ How are we not allowed at least one question? I mean if we’re going to violate some rules…
Jensen
Pretty sure you’re doing a form of blackmail already, Ems.
Callie
Your point?
Jensen
… Guys, come on, please?
Emma
Fine. Hold please.
Now, ALLEGEDLY, if I were to have Beck’s emergency contact pulled up on my screen. And by chance took a picture of my drink to show you what I’m drinking while “working” you’d probably find what you’re looking for in the middle section.
Callie
Allegedly.
Jensen
THANK YOU.
Before I can second-guess myself, I call Beck’s dad. If I’m going to have Callie and Emma break some rules, I suppose I better follow through.
It rings a few times, and I nearly hang up before he answers with a cautious, “Hello?”
