“But I’m used to it.”

“No.I will take care of you if you like it or not.Besides, she won’t let you help anyway.Give yourself another day.”

“I don’t want to be a parasite, Daddy.”

He wiped the tear that clung to the corner of one eye.“That’s not possible, Sweetheart.I want you to depend on me for everything. That’s what a daddy does.”

Angel nodded and let him slide the sweatpants onto her, and then a pair of socks.

He carried her to the bed.“Stay there.I’m going to get dressed.”

He was back within a minute and held out his hand.“Let’s go.”

She took his hand and led her out of the room and down the stairs.

Daisy came to her instantly and gripped her shoulders.“Honey, don’t ever hesitate to come to me for anything.”

“I will.I just don’t like to be a bother,” Angel said.

He gritted his teeth. She had been there several weeks, but it was becoming apparent it would take more time for her to feel secure with him.He didn’t mind. They had plenty of time.

He watched the two women and was pleased with how close they had gotten. His angel needed a sweet woman in her life. She deserved everything he was going to give her and more.

There wasn’t anything he wouldn’t do for her.A thought popped into his head.He could tell she was still afraid of the man the nun at the convent wanted her to marry, and he wanted to be able to give her some peace of mind that she would never have to worry about the guy again.

He’d call a few people he knew who could find out anything he needed and go from there.

Chapter Fifteen

Angel followed Daisythrough the back door. Both of their arms were full of groceries. They set the bags down on the counter and started unloading them.

“I can finish this if you want to go tell your daddy lunch will be late,” Daisy said.

Angel nodded.“I’ll go now.”She walked out of the kitchen with a huge smile on her face.Although she’d only been away from Thomas for a few hours, she already missed him terribly.

She was around the corner when she heard Thomas and another man talking by the front door.
