Angel nodded.
He gathered up the remnants of their meal, set it on the tray, and put it on the dresser by the bedroom door.
“I’m done,” she called out.
Thomas walked in to see her leaning against the counter. He maneuvered her in front of the sink.“Wash your hands.”
One of his arms came around her midsection to hold her steady, and he waited for her to finish brushing her teeth.
“Let’s get you back into bed.”
“Okay.”
Her eyelids were already drooping when he settled her onto the mattress.“I’m going to shower, but I won’t be long.”
“It’s still daylight. You don’t have to stay here with me.I’m sure you have things to do.”
He sat beside her hip and cupped her face in his hand.“Baby, there is no way I’m leaving you when you don’t feel well.”
“But...”
“No buts. You have to let your daddy take care of you.You can do that, right?”he asked.
She nodded.“Yes, Daddy.”
His smile widened.“I love it when you call me that.”
“I’m glad.”
He pressed a kiss to her forehead.“Rest, and I’ll be back in a few minutes.Call out if you need me.”
“Okay, Daddy.”
It physically hurt to move away from her, so he hurried through his shower and pulled on a pair of night pants. He closed the drapes and turned off the lights before he slid into bed.He rolled her to her side and spooned her with his body.
He listened to her deep breathing for several minutes, and he couldn’t believe how content it made him.He knew other men who had littles and had listened to them talk about the girls, thinking they were exaggerating, but now he knew what they had told him was true.If you found the right woman, she would change your life and make you happier than you ever thought possible.
Now, he could never see his life without her, and he would do whatever he needed to keep her with him.
