They waited patiently, and before long, Gideon sat in the chair. He pulled Glimmer down onto his lap and nuzzled her neck. She giggled.
“Where did you put your ring?” Gideon asked suddenly. He’d just thought to ask.
“It’s in my purse.” She patted her designer purse that was slung around her shoulder.
“Don’t lose that shit, Glimmer. Soon as that tattoo heals, that ring needs to go back on.”
Glimmer slid her purse off and pulled the ring out. She placed it on her right hand and looked at him. “Better?”
He grinned. “Much.”
“You know, you’ve vowed so many things to me, but I never gave you any vows.”
“You said vows on our wedding day.”
“Those generic vows don’t count.”
Gideon’s brows hiked. “Okay, then vow to give me that good ass pussy every night, and we good.”
Glimmer smacked his shoulder while the tattoo artist giggled. She held her needle and started on Gideon’s tattoo. He didn’t even flinch as he continued to look at Glimmer in amusement.
“I’m being serious, Gideon. I want to vow something to you. You’ve been so good to me, and I feel it’s the least I could do.”
“Aight, lay it on me then.” He was all ears. He always was when she spoke.
She cleared her throat and looked into his eyes lovingly. “I vow to never leave.”
He blinked. Most might ask “That’s it?” after the short vow, but not Gideon. To him, her words meant everything. All his life, he just wanted the people he loved tostay. It was why he was so protective over them. Not having a mother and losing his father caused a deep yearning for people to simply stay. Glimmer seemed to somehow understand that about him.
He had to work around the lump in his throat to speak. “That’s all I need, love. That’s all I need.”
He nuzzled his face into her neck and sat just like that for the duration of his tattoo so he could do his favorite thing andbreathe her in. This time, with the peace of mind that she was never going to leave his side.
Two months later . . .
Glimmer poutedwith her arms crossed. Gideon chuckled as he glanced at her while he drove.
“Fix ya face.”
“I don’t understand why you forbid me to see the house since we purchased it.” Her pout somehow got more intense, but Gideon only found it cute. He was sure that pissed her off real good, but he couldn’t help it. Glimmerwascute. Cute as hell, and he would never stop thinking so.
“Relax, baby. We’re about to go see it right now.”
He didn’t want her to see the house for a couple of reasons. The next time she laid eyes on their home, he wanted it to befully decorated and furnished based on her preferences. This was a big deal. It was both of their first homes, and he wanted her to have the luxury of sitting back and allowing him to handle everything. The other reason was a surprise that he knew would top this day off right.
They pulled into the driveway of their new home, and Glimmer’s eyes lit up. She clapped excitedly before she undid her seat belt. When she reached for her door, he stopped her.
“Don’t you dare.”
Her pout was back as she cut her eyes at him. “Well, then, hurry up.”
Gideon got out of the car and quickly rounded it, at his wife’s request, and helped her out of the car.
Together, they walked hand in hand toward the front door. Gideon unlocked it and pushed it open so they could step inside. The gasp that fell from Glimmer’s mouth made him smile.
“It looks just like I pictured it,” she said as she looked around the foyer with high ceilings and light sage green walls. Everything was decorated based on her decisions, and Gideon made sure the interior designers executed everything flawlessly.
He kept an easy pace as he followed behind her while she checked out every room. She zipped from one corner of the house to the next in pure delight. Gideon felt light as a feather as they walked through their new home together.
