Gideon could admitthat he might have been a bit of a tyrant over the past week. Both he and Haze had, actually, so he was happy to have another night of relaxation and fun.
The night before with Glimmer had been needed, and he didn’t even realize it. He’d been so focused on finding Trick and handling that problem that he forgot he was a newlywed and the vice president of a motorcycle club. People needed him, and he needed to remember that, which was the point of the night.
Gideon convinced Haze to take a night off so they could host one of their infamous casino nights. The Vicious Kings loved five things: each other, money, motorcycles, weapons, and gambling. In that order. And they always did it big on casino night. Theyhired blackjack dealers, fine ass waitresses who kept the drinks coming, and they even got slot machines.
As he looked around the compound, Gideon grinned.
“You sure are happy tonight,” Glimmer said. She stood by his side and looked up at him with her puppy dog eyes. It didn’t matter whether or not she was trying to convince him to do something or not. Gideon felt like her eyes always held that cute innocence that had him ready to lay the entire world at her feet, and he would do it gladly.
He leaned down and kissed the top of her silky hair. “I’m always happy when I’m around you.”
She beamed up at him before she poked him in his side. “That might be true, but you’re excited to gamble.”
Gideon shrugged. “You might be right about that.”
He had his eye on the blackjack table. That was his vice, and he had a real lucky hand with it too.
“What are you going to start with?” Glimmer asked, and Gideon looked back down at her.
His brows furrowed when he noticed her tapping away on her phone. She had been doing that a lot since the night before. “Aye, you good?”
She didn’t even look up at him as she said, “Yeah.”
“Hey.” He grabbed her chin and forced her to look up at him. “Who you been talkin’ to?”
He hated to even ask her that question. The last thing he wanted was to come off as controlling, but he didn’t like how distracted she seemed.
Glimmer sighed and locked her phone before she shoved it into her sweatpants pocket. “My dad.”
“Everything okay?”
Glimmer sighed and leaned into him before she spoke. “I don’t know. He wants me to call my mom.”
Gideon’s thick brows hiked. He moved his locs away from his neck as he thought about what he wanted to say. Glimmer told him about her relationship with her mother and how Camille had a big role in why Glimmer almost married Trick. Gideon’s jaw clenched at the thought of her being married to anyone but him.
Finally, he smoothed her hair away from her face and looked into her brown eyes. He studied every part of her face, from her glossy lips to her cute nose, to the dimple in her left cheek that showed even when she wasn’t smiling. Her chocolate skin always looked so edible to him, which was why he leaned down and kissed her cheek before he asked, “What do you want to do?”
She shrugged. “I’m not really sure. I mean, she is my mom, and my dad keeps saying that she really wants to talk . . .”
Gideon didn’t like it, but he would support her no matter what she decided. “You know I’m here for you, right? I ain’t just here to stroke that pussy. I can help you with big decisions like this too.”
She smiled softly. “You think this is a big decision?”
“I do. I think your mom is a touchy topic, and no matter what decision you make, it can affect you.”
She thought about it, and her shoulders sagged. “You’re right.”
“I normally am. Gimme some suga.” She stepped up on her tiptoes and poked her lips out. Gideon kissed her deeply. After a few seconds, before they could get too carried away, Gideon pulled away. “Just make sure you let me know if you decide to meet up with her or some shit. I’m sorry, but I only trust one of your parents with you, and it ain’t her.”
Glimmer playfully rolled her eyes and patted his chest. “Yes, daddy.”
Gideon backed her up against the nearest wall. “You know when you call me that I can’t control myself, baby.”
She giggled. The sound felt like home. He didn’t know how to explain it. He wished he could bottle it up and listen to it whenever he felt like it.
“Come on, bae. People are watching.”
Gideon heard catcalls and banter going on behind him from the Vicious Kings. He didn’t care. His wife suddenly had him wound tight, and only she could loosen him up.
