“The fuck do you want?”he snarls.
I let out a hard laugh.“Like you don’t know,” I reply, my hands clenching into fists as I try to control the urge to punch this fucker in the face.Again.
Isaac shrugs.“No idea,” he says, shoving his hands in his pockets.
“Bullshit.”
“Dude, seriously,” he continues, a smug smile on his face now, like this is no big deal.“I have no idea what you’re talking about.”
I pull my phone from my pocket, opening up the text Daisy sent me before clicking on one of the pictures.I shove the phone in Isaac’s face as I say, “So what, this wasn’t you?”
His eyes flick to the screen, and I swear for just a second, his smile changes before he quickly masks it.“Nope, not me,” he replies, rocking on his heels.“Looks like a pretty sweet setup though.Whoever did do it clearly cares about Daisy.Take it this wasn’t you?”he now asks, his words loaded with arrogance.
“Fuck you, Isaac,” I spit out.“I know this was you. What the fuck are you getting at here? You aren’t with her.I am.”
He raises his brows, the smug smile returning as he says, “If you say so.”
Something inside me snaps at his words, at the way he seems to love the fact he’s riling me up right now.I take a step closer, grabbing the front of his t-shirt and yanking him toward me.The fucker is still sporting the remnants of the two black eyes he got from me and Kai, and right now, I’m not afraid of redoing them.
“I fucking know it was you, Isaac,” I growl.
He laughs.“Dude, I didn’t even know she lived there,” he says, and I know he’s fucking lying. He saw me there, working on the roof.I’m sure the idiot put two and two together.
“Bullshit,” I snap.“Stay the fuck away from her, asshole.I fucking mean it.”
“Yeah, what you gonna do, give me another black eye?”
I tighten my grip on his t-shirt before shoving him back against the side of his house.“You don’t wanna know what I’m going to do if you so much as look at her.”
Isaac puts his hands on my chest, pushing me back as he says, “Whatever.Fuck off, I’m busy.”With that, he turns and walks back inside the house, slamming the wooden door behind him.
“Asshole,” I say, kicking the side before I turn and walk back to my car.
Ten minutes later, I’m pulling up outside what is going to soon be mine and Daisy’s home together.
It kind of feels a little tainted now because even though he denied doing it, I know Isaac was lying when he said he had nothing to do with the flowers.Who the fuck else would have done it?
I head inside to find the place clear, not a single flower in sight.
“Daze?”
“Back here,” she calls from the bathroom.
I head back to find her scrubbing at the walls, cleaning them before we start painting.“Hey,” I say, stepping into the room.
Daze glances back over her shoulder at me.“Hey,” she huffs out before turning back to the wall.
Exhaling, I step closer, my hands on her hips as I turn her to face me.Smiling, I lean in, kissing her softly.“What’s going on?”I ask, resting my forehead against hers.
Daisy huffs out a breath, pulling back as her eyes meet mine.“It was Isaac, wasn’t it?”
She doesn’t have to elaborate; we both know what she’s talking about.“He says it wasn’t,” I tell her.“But yeah, my money’s on it being him.”
“You spoke to him?”she asks, her words laced with venom.
“Went and saw him,” I admit, giving her a half-smile.
She narrows her brow at me as she asks, “Don’t tell me he has another black eye?”
