“Thought we’d go see what it looks like inside,” Miles says, as I furrow my brow, shaking my head.

“That sounds like a terrible idea.Actually, it sounds like breaking and entering.”I let out a laugh, trying to make the most of this shitty situation, but Miles doesn’t seem to care.

Instead, he walks right up to the door, fiddling with the lock, kicking the bottom of the door with the toe of his shoe before the door flies open.

“Miles, what the hell are you doing?”I whisper-shout, looking around to make sure no one can see us.“Are you trying to get us arrested? We made it out of our teenage years without it happening.I don’t want it to happen now either.”

“Come on.Let’s take a look,” he says, calling me to him with a hook of his finger.“It’s a mess in here!”he yells, disappearing inside the building.

Again, I scan the area before following him like a complete fool.Whoever owns this building is going to be pissed. They probably have cameras here, and we’re going to be caught.

“Miles,” I call softly, not wanting to draw attention to what we’re currently doing.

But as I step over the threshold of the doorway, my mouth falls open, a gasp slipping out, and I don’t even know what is happening.

There, on the back wall of the messy building full of cobwebs and dust, musty smells, and rusty nails, is a handwritten sign.

Daisy’s Flour Shop: A Cupcake Bakery

Daisy stopsin the open doorway, her eyes wide and her mouth even wider, and I cannot help but laugh.

“Daze, you okay there?”I ask, turning and walking slowly toward her.

She lifts her arm, her finger pointing at the sign as she blinks.“What...what, what is this?”

Chuckling, I throw my arm around her shoulders, pulling her close as I press my lips to her temple.“This is yours.”

She swallows audibly, turning to look up at me, those blue eyes of hers still wide.“What?”

Grinning, I lean down, my fingers sliding under her chin as I press a soft kiss to her lips.“It’s yours, Daze.I bought it for you.”

When I pull back, she’s blinking rapidly, as though she’s trying to process what I’m telling her.“It’s what?”she asks, her question barely audible.

I move so I’m standing in front of her, my hands on either side of her neck.“It’s yours,” I repeat.

“But how?”

“Because I bought it for you,” I say again, giving her a smile.

“Why?”

I burst out laughing.I’ve never seen Daisy like this—so genuinely surprised and speechless.I lean in and give her another kiss.“Because this has always been your dream, Daze,” I whisper against her lips.

“But...but...why?”

“I want to make it a reality for you.”

She blinks once before suddenly launching herself at me, flinging her arms around my neck as she all but leaps into my arms.My hands grip her ass as she wraps her legs around me and kisses me hard.

“You bought it?”she whispers, still kissing me hungrily.

“Uh huh,” I murmur with a laugh.

Daisy pulls back now, her eyes meeting mine as she asks, “How?”

Grinning, I kiss the end of her nose as I say, “The tour and album did well, Daze. The band might have imploded, but before that, we did well. The royalty checks haven’t stopped.”

She’s shaking her head before I’ve even finished speaking.“No, nope, you can’t do this.”
