“I’ll meet you at your place.”
“Done.”
“See you soon, Claire.”
“Looking forward to it.”
I hung up and started back home double time. I had an hour to get ready, and I still had to shave my legs and other regions. If I was going to spend the afternoon with Seth, I would be prepared for whatever came. And I was hoping to hell that was me.
The afternoon had flown by. After lunch of greasy fish and chips on the pier, Seth had taken me with him to look at a couple of apartments he was interested in. Something I definitely hadn’t been expecting. Wearing my cut-off jeans, flowy tank top, and my good thongs with sparkles on them, I was definitely not dressed to be apartment shopping. And the stuck up, suit-wearing, skanky real estate agent made sure I knew it too.
We looked at three apartments, and the whole time I was trying to tamp down my enthusiasm and excitement. They were all beautiful. Huge open spaces. Light filled. Clean, modern lines. And the bathrooms, don’t even get me started. I’d always wanted a rainfall showerhead, and his and hers sinks, and these ones were all done out in marble and chrome.
But as if the apartments themselves weren’t enough, Seth was on another level. He was asking questions about levies, sinking funds and maintenance clauses. Not to mention secure parking and crime statistics. He sounded like a real, proper grown up. If he traded the low-slung board shorts and tight t-shirt that pulled across his chest for a crisp business suit, he would’ve pulled off the property tycoon without batting an eyelid. It was hot as fuck.
After we’d finished up, I wasn’t ready to call it a day, and from the way Seth was dragging his feet, it felt like I wasn’t the only one either. We headed back to his place and the moment I was out of the car I pounced on him. I don’t know if it was watching him play the role of the sophisticated businessman or maybe it was just the idea of someone my own age being grown up enough to even contemplate buying their own place. God knows it wasn’t on my agenda any time soon.
When he bit my bottom lip, I groaned and rubbed myself against him, the seam in my shorts helping provide the friction I was searching for.
“Inside. Now!” I begged shamelessly.
Bumbling down the drive, I licked the spot just under Seth’s ear, eliciting a strangled gasp deep from the back of his throat before he came to a halt. “What?” I panted as I unwound my legs from around his waist and slid down his hard body to the ground.
Clearing his throat, Seth pointed over my shoulder.
My cheeks burned.
I didn’t need to turn around to know we weren’t alone.
Fuck it!
I don’t know if I was more embarrassed because I’d been caught dry humping Seth in the driveway or disappointed because we had an audience and that had put a halt to an afternoon of fun and fucking.
“Seth.”
I didn’t want to turn around.
I couldn’t.
My feet were frozen where I stood.
Seth stepped towards me, wrapping me in his arms before spinning me and tucking me against him. “Hey, Luca. Elise. Great afternoon for gardening,” he said so casually I wanted to junk punch him. Here I was humiliated and wishing the ground would open up and swallow me, and Seth was talking about gardening or some bullshit.
“Great day.” Elise smirked, knowing exactly what we’d been up to.
“Well, we were just stopping by so I could change, and then we’ll be out of your hair.” That was news to me, but I wasn’t about to object.
As Seth half-dragged me into the house, I heard Elise call out behind me, “You guys don’t have to leave.”
But we did.
We so did.
And the sooner the better if it was my choice.
Bursting through Seth’s bedroom door, I threw myself on the bed with a bounce in a fit of giggles. I looked ridiculous, but the harder I tried to control it the quicker they came, to the embarrassing point that I actually snorted. Like out loud. Like a pig.
Thankfully, Seth didn’t seem to notice. He was too busy shoving stuff in a backpack before disappearing into the bathroom. When he reappeared, he had a mischievous smile across his face.
