“No.” I swallowed, willing to get my brain on the right path. “A moment of weakness. But it won’t be an issue.”
“I hope so. I know we are asking a lot from you. But if it’s too much to handle…” she trailed off. Her eyes went to the boy at my feet. Or at least what she could see of him on her end.
“I can handle it.” I was in this fully. Not just to bring down whoever was at the top but to get justicefor the boy at my feet. “You don’t come here just to chat. So what’s up?”
“Collin sent me some troubling information.” I wasn’t surprised. A hacker was a hacker, and Collin was a great one. He got what we needed and more, more than once. “Have you heard of the name Jeffery Morrey?”
“Yeah. Who hasn’t?” He had been found not guilty a couple of years ago after some drama around a church group that abused boys. Other than a few witnesses placing that man at the camp, there was no evidence he did anything wrong except for being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Or so the police report had said.
I knew there was more to that story than what was ever leaked to the public. Even Collin couldn’t find information since it never had a paper trail.
A tap on my leg drew my attention to Dakota. I looked down, not expecting his eyes to be glazed over in fear.
"What is it?" My voice came out a bit more growly than I intended.
“He…that guy…” he swallowed, looking down. “You said to tell you my thoughts?”
“Yes.”
“I serviced him.”
“I figured so,” April answered. “Can you tell us where?”
“The place, not how you cared for his needs, boy.” I knew what he’d answer if I didn’t give out strict directions.
“In the basement, where I was at. I never left there. He came to me.”
“That’s not as helpful as I’d like,” April said, leaning back in her chair.
I ran a hand through Dakota’s hair, hoping he knew how proud I was for him to speak up.
“Did he bring others with him?”
The boy shook his head, but a shiver wracked him.
For once, I didn’t want to know what he was thinking.
“What do you need me to do?” I asked April, knowing there was something she needed.
“I hate to ask, but since you have him in your care, I need information. Everything, all the details. His name is tied in with Donald’s crew. ”
“Here’s an address. Go do your thing.” A slip of paper was pushed across the desk towards me. “You’ll get in if he goes.”
Shit. What else did I have to do to get this case closed once and for all?
Chapter 28
Dakota
I could feel the hands. They were all over my body. Too warm. Too sweaty. And someone always smelled like piss and drugs.
I didn’t want to go back there. Ever. I’d stay with Sir and do whatever I needed as long as he never let someone else do what others have.
I leaned against his leg, shaking. I didn’t care about the dull ache of my ribs. I didn’t care that I was near tears. Sir was nice. He said so, and he hadn’t hurt me like so many others had so far.
Most men would come and go. Some repeated showing up. But not Morrey. He was there like clockwork. Weekly. He’d brag about other boys and girls he’s got to play with. He was rough in ways that others weren’t. He said he’d do things to save me, but really it was only his story.
I could still feel the rough hands caressing me like I was a present. The way his thin dick was shovedinto me without care sent more rattling shivers through my body.
