I watched as Alex filled certain-sized cups with different things. Flour. Sugar. Eggs. Applesauce.

The entire time, Alex chatted about this and that. Most of what she was saying was about how to make bread, substituting the bananas for the applesauce. Or we could use cream cheese.

“Go ahead and put all these in the bowl. Then mix.”

Slowly, I did as she requested. One cup at a time, being careful not to dare make a mess.

“I’ve known Allister for years,” Alex continued, not seeming to care that I wasn’t adding to her words. She seemed content to talk enough for the both of us, thankfully. “My husband works with him. And we are pretty good friends. But I do have to say I’m glad my husband isn’t the one to bring home guests every few months. Not that there’s anything wrong with it. Allister has a huge heart, and he means well.”

She paused long enough to check my mixing, declaring it was good and dumping the bread batter into a pan. The scrape of the fork along the sides of the metal made me grit my teeth.

“I stay out of their business, mostly. I just come here once or twice a week to make sure that man has food to eat. If left up to him, he’d eat takeout all the damn time. And he doesn’t need his heart to go out before he can try to save the entire world.”

I briefly thought about asking her if she knew exactly what Sir did. Did she know that Sir bought me,and now I was his until he got rid of me? That I was a slave to serve his every need?

I blinked, knowing better than to voice any of that. I was sure Sir wasn’t wanting his secret to be let out.

“So, how long have you been here?” She asked the question while putting the bread into the oven.

“Uh…a week? Maybe longer?” I really didn’t know. It didn’t feel like it was all that long, but given most of the days I had been here so far were filled with sleeping.

“Makes sense. No wonder Allister had made some sort of excuse last week for me not to come.” She turned her gaze to me quickly before I dropped mine back to the counter. “That’s about how long the others have been here. I never see them more than once or twice.”

Yet again, I had nothing to say. I wasn’t anything that Sir didn’t want me to be.

“Alright. Can I trust you with a knife?”

This time, I did look up. I nodded. I’d be a good boy. The threat of a cage was still there. It’d forever be there, no matter what.

“Good. You can cut up some veggies while I get some other stuff ready.”

I could feel Sir’s eyes on me before he made an appearance in the kitchen. Alex had turned on music from her phone, the volume low, as she made a few different stews. I ended up being more in the way than anything, and I found myself just sitting at the counter, waiting for her to tell me what to cut or peel. Or to taste test.

A bowl that had been filled with three different soups, plus a piece of the bread, sat off towards the side. I didn’t think I could eat anything else, no matter how good the smell was coming from the latest soup that was boiling away in the pot on the stove.

Even though I wasn’t as much help as I could have been, I did my best to pay attention to how she made each thing. But, from what it looked like in thefreezer, Sir had more than enough food to keep him going for months on end. Plus, he had full cupboards, too.

Looking a bit closer at things with a different set of eyes, I could see that Sir was well prepared for having any type of guest here.

Maybe a part of me was slightly jealous of the fact that he did have others here before me. I wasn’t going to let it grow, though. I wasn’t allowed to have feelings, and it wasn’t going to change now. I wouldn’t let it.

I was just another toy for him to control. I didn’t need to know where the others went or how they came to be here in the first place. It wasn’t my concern.

All that mattered was that I was the only one here currently, even if Sir didn’t want much from me.

While I should be thankful that he didn’t want me to keep his dick warm day and night, it bothered me. No man, even if they were straight or unsure of what they liked, always wanted a part of me.

“Smells good in here.” Sir’s voice broke me from my thoughts. He stepped up next to me, lettinghis hand run along my bare arm where the shirt didn’t touch before taking a step away.

“I’m almost finished. And this one here is a great taster.”

“That’s good to hear.” Sir’s knowing gaze fell over me again. I could see him shift next to me, so he was half facing me instead of the entire kitchen area. “He’s not a huge eater.”

“He’s skin and bones,” Alex huffed. “But they all are.”

“You know why, Alex.” Sir’s tone dipped a notch, a warning.
