Everything was clean, homey, and warm.
I knew my time here wasn’t going to last. The comfort wasn’t going to, either. Soon enough, Sir would use me like all the others. He’d demand me to do things that I’d fail at just to have a reason to hurt me even more.
Shivering, even though I wasn’t exactly cold, I stood in front of the enormous windows that looked out towards what I assumed was the backyard. The grass was brown as the seasons were changing. The tall fence hid whatever was out past that, but the yard was huge.
It had been so long since I got to feel the breeze on my face or smell the fresh air.
Turning away from the view, I wasn’t sure what I was to do now. In the past few months or years even, I hadn’t been allowed to do anything I wanted to do. Now it was no different, but there were no orders on what I was to do. No long impossible lists to complete.
Tiptoeing towards the office room, I paused just outside the doorway, listening to what Sir was saying. Maybe he’d give me some indication of what I was to do by telling whoever he was talking to.
Listening to things one wasn’t supposed to always gave me more information.
“It’s to be expected, Allister.” The voice was on speaker. “Anyone that’s been through such hardship will need more time to adapt. He’s trained to beanything but human. Give him direct orders and expectations. Slowly bring him back to being a human.”
“Easier said than done,” Sir grumbled. “You haven’t seen him, Scarlett. He’s….”
“I’ve seen many victims like that. But you did sign up to keep him, or anyone for that matter if you went in like you did.”
“Don’t remind me.” This time, Sir’s words were a bit more dramatic than I thought they needed to be. “Just what the hell was I thinking? I didn’t expect this.”
“No one ever does. Collin may be a great person to talk to about what you are looking for. He’s had Emily and Silas, who were in similar situations.”
Was Collin someone who bought humans, too? Did he have his own slaves? Was he going to want me?
“Putting out what you expect is the first step. Don’t sugarcoat anything.”
Stepping away from the door, I made my way back to the bedroom where I had been staying.
I didn’t know what was going on or who this Sir was precisely, but surely he didn’t want anything different from me than other men had.
Determined to be the perfect slave he had spent money on, I set my mind right. I’d serve him however he wanted to prove that I could keep the small things he’s gifted me to so far.
Clothes, food, and healing my broken body.
Until he told me otherwise, I’d just wait and do what I was known to do. I’d offer my services when he needed them.
Chapter 7
Allister
What the hell had I been thinking?
I never once thought I’d take in a human from a fucking slave auction. I never thought I’d go this deep for an undercover op.
This was not what I signed up for. At all. Now it was too late to back out. Not when there were others at risk now.
Talking to my handler, then Scarlett, things weren’t any more transparent. The former knew more than most people about the sex trade and the effects of such things on the mind. I had hoped she’d have at least some sort of idea of what I was to do. She was no help other than offering to come talk to my newest guest.
So now, I was nowhere closer to figuring out what to do.
The slave boy refused to give me a name and hadn’t spoken more than a handful of words to me.He was so broken and unhealthy in more than one way.
Running a hand down my face to keep the memories of how neglected he had been that first time I laid eyes on him from my mind, I pressed a palm into my sockets just enough to make black dots appear.
God, what the fuck!
I needed to get a name from him. I loathed calling him a slave, but what else would I do? Not to mention how he wasn’t even in human mode. He only did what he was told to do and nothing more. He probably wouldn’t even breathe if it wasn’t a natural response. He wouldn’t eat without orders, which made his appearance so thin as it was.
