“My apologies…he mentioned that he was representing you. And since he was one of the remaining survivors, I didn’t question it. Is that an incorrect assumption?”

I quickly shook my head. “No, no. It’s fine.”

I skimmed the papers, unsure how to pronounce many of the words, let alone knowing the meaning of them. However, knowing Zeek had already looked over everything helped to put me at ease. I trusted Zeek. And even though I didn’t know what he was up to, I figured he’d explain later when I got back to his house.

Quickly scribbling my signature where the papers indicated, I handed them back to the attorney who thanked me for my time and assured he would expedite my case before turning to leave the shop.

The moment he was out of sight, I released the breath I hadn’t realized I’d been holding, a sense of relief washing over me. Though it wasn’t relief for the reasons you may be thinking. I didn’t care about the money. What I cared about was the fact that Zeek was still trying to help me in a way that only he could.

Never in a million years would I have thought about contacting a lawyer to fix an issue like this. Truth be told, I wasn’t even sure I could. I just assumed it was a dead matter.

“A

re you sure about this?” Eli asked from where we were sitting in the shadows of the club, glancing at me as I bounced my knee up and down nervously. He wasn’t exactly a fan of me keeping secrets from my target of the night. But like I told him, I didn’t see it going well if Zeek knew my intentions. Therefore, it was my only option if I wanted to prove that I could do this for him.

My eyes hadn’t left Zeek from the moment he’d entered five minutes ago. And his eyes hadn’t left his target––Mistress Destri.

The club’s lights reflected off of the silky material of her skintight red dress as the two of them spoke. How she, or any woman for that matter, could move in something like that would forever be a mystery to me.

“Yes. I mean, I won’t know until I try.”

“Alright. I’ll give them a few moments to get set up before I speak with her.”

“Thank you.”

“There’s no need for that,” Eli stated, shaking his head dismissively.

A few minutes passed before Eli stood, motioning for me to follow him. Obeying, I followed close behind. This wasn’t my first time in the club, but that did nothing to detract from the nervousness bubbling in the pit of my stomach. During my previous visits I’d never really found much interest in the things that went on around me.

Until today.

When we reached the area where Destri and Zeek were set up, I was a bit taken aback to find he was already blindfolded, shirtless and bound to the wooden X, his hands shackled above his head by what looked to be soft leather cuffs. Breathing evenly, he dropped his head to his chest, as if mentally and physically preparing himself for what was to come.

It took everything in my power not to reach out and touch him when my eyes fell to the red welts that already decorated his back. Thankfully, all of the damage from his previous outing had healed up nicely.

Destri turned, her eyes narrowing when they found ours. With more confidence than I could muster on a good day, she strolled over, meeting Eli halfway. I knew I’d hit a sore spot when I refused to leave with her after we found Zeek a few weeks ago, so I opted to remain where I was. I watched intently as she muttered something to Eli, her eyes finding mine briefly before turning to speak to Zeek.

I held my breath as she turned in my direction, her heels clicking against the floor as she sauntered toward me.

“Zeek has agreed…under two conditions,” Mistress Destri said, eyeing me up and down like I was a piece of candy. “First, he insists that he remain blindfolded. Second, I am to remain here the entire time.”

I nodded in agreement.

“I’ll help lead you in the proper technique. Now, before we begin, it is imperative that you understand his safe word is red. If he says it–or if I do–everything stops. No questions asked. Understood?”

I nodded again.

“Because he’s the one that’s currently tied up, my pet’s well-being is my top priority. Got it?”

“Yes, ma’am. I understand how this works…the basics anyway. It’s not my first time. Well…it’s not my first time being here.” My words were hushed to avoid Zeek hearing my voice. “Eli has brought me here a time or two and explained a number of things.”

Destri’s eyes shifted to meet Eli’s, giving him a slight nod to let him know that everything was fine and he was free to mingle.

“Alright,” she muttered, turning her attention back to me. “My pet doesn’t like to reach subspace, so I’ll talk you through whatever you need, step-by-step, until I know he’s close. You must understand that subspace is his hardest limit. It is to be avoided at all costs.”

I swallowed the quickly forming lump in my throat and nodded. I knew that small fact and would never dare push it purposely, but I was still new to everything this would entail.
