“You have to remember that you aren’t the only one who has a bank full of numbers that we never even dreamed of,” Enzo went on when I still didn’t say a word. “I bet Ryker isn’t gonna leave you either.”

“Never,” Ryker stated. I twisted in Enzo’s hold to look up at him as he stood behind the couch. “The three of us are together. There’s no need to doubt that at all. Am I clear?”

I nodded my head, letting his words finally settle something in me.

“Good. Now, how about we eat dinner outside tonight?”

“That’s new.” Enzo patted my arm for me to move, and, after a moment, even though I would have preferred to just stay laying against him, I did.

“Thought we needed something different tonight.”

“Maybe money went to his head,” Enzo stage-whispered to me. Ryker simply raised a brow, then shook his head and headed to the back door.

I felt silly for even thinking it, but it was probably one of those things that would always be at the back of my mind.

“Come on.”

Like I would have done anything else but follow him.

For once, Enzo was the one who froze on the other side of the back door. It took me a moment to figure out why.

There was a round table, three chairs around it, and more than enough food for one meal. Most of it was finger food, from what I could tell. String lights were hanging over the roof—or what should have been a roof with the slots that were up above our heads.

“Go. Sit,” Ryker encouraged, pushing us farther out of the door with a gentle hand.

“What? Why? I don’t get this.” Enzo spoke quickly, confused, but he did take a seat at the table. I followed, trying to figure out the answers to the questions myself.

“I thought being outside would be a nice change,” Ryker started after also taking a seat.

“You’ve both hinted at the fact you like being outside, and I’m sure this was a good way to start. Our walk today wasn’t what I had in mind, but this,” he swept his hand around the table, “can be in our control. No surprises. Hopefully.”

“Okay.”

I was the first to start putting some of the finger foods onto my plate. I hadn’t a clue how much I’d actually eat, but it seemed like Enzo was the one who wasn’t sure what to do.

“Thank you,” I said, knowing two simple words would never be able to show just how much I was thankful for. Ryker had saved me in ways I’d never thought I could be saved.

I was so sure I knew what the outcome of my life was going to end up being. Now, I had no clue. All I did know was that I wanted Ryker. I wanted Enzo. I wanted tolive.

“No thanks are needed,” Ryker said with a dip of his chin. “Maybe I went a bit overboard here, though.”

“It’s perfect.” Enzo finally got his voice to work. “Just not what I was expecting.”

Ryker gave him a tight smile, keeping his thoughts to himself.

Did he have the same worry I had? About us leaving? Finding our own place?

Ryker was a huge part of my life, and I wouldn’t be able to walk away from him. Unless he wanted us to.

Was that what this meal was about? Was it about Ryker getting ready to kick us out now that we had money to move on?

“You’re doubting things again, sugar.”

“Sorry.” No, I wasn’t. I couldn’t just shut it off with a flick of a switch.

Instead, I dropped my eyes to my plate, picking apart my food.

“You aren’t kicking us out, right?” The words came out clustered together.
