“I do hope you didn’t let him order the most expensive things in the store. Babies don’t care what they have as long as they have love and food,” Joslynlaughed.
“He tried to,” I replied shyly, remembering how we had trouble agreeing on what topurchase.
“Lizzy and you will have everything both of you could dream of. If you have more kids later, they will be spoiled rotten,” Joslyn laughed. “Byeveryone.”
“Of course, they will,” Kelly agreed, taking the conversation offme.
“How?” Kaleb growled from the kitchen before hushing his voice again. After a few minutes, while Elijah was telling the delivery people where to put everything, Kaleb came back in, looking upset and not pleased atall.
“I’ll go get the food out of the oven,” Emily said, giving Kaleb a look that meant he was to follow her. I didn’t think I would ever be able to pull a look like thatoff.
“And the highchair will go in the kitchen,” Elijah said as the green and blue highchair was brought into thehouse.
“You got it,” the man spoke in a raspyvoice.
“The crib is set up where you wanted it, Mr. Brown,” the man said as he came back downstairs. “Is there anything else youneed?”
“That will be all. Thank you, gentlemen,” Elijah said as he stood up from the couch where he was sitting besideme.
They left shortly after, saying to contact the store if something didn’t seem to be set up correctly. Joslyn brought us girls out a plate of food, laughing at the looks on the guys’ faces when they were told to go get theirown.
Elijah’s parents didn’t stay around much longer, since Joslyn and Emily had made plans to go shopping that afternoon for a few baby items we apparently couldn’t live without. I wasn’t sure what they could possibly be, as it seemed like we had everything we could need for the first year of Lizzy’slife.
“Seth called,” Kaleb said, looking at Elijah. “Morgan and Joan postedbail.”
“How?” Elijah asked, glaring at Kaleb. Although, I wasn’t all thatsurprised.
“No idea. That’s what I wanted to know. The person who gave the money over wasn’t caught on tape, and no name wasgiven.”
“The bail was high enough that no one should have been able to payit.”
“That’s what I thought, too. Morgan must have ties to people we didn’t know about. Galvin hasn’t even tried to bail like I expected,” Kalebsaid.
“I wonder what Morgan is hiding, then, since I’m sure he ran off to one of hishideouts.”
“He’ll come out soon enough,” Kaleb said. “I do need to run to the office for a few hours to look at the tape myself, and a few other things. So, we’ll leave you threebe.”
“I’ll see you soon,” Emily said, giving me a huggoodbye.
The house seemed quiet, and after turning the TV on, we both took an hour’s nap until Lizzy demanded to befed.
