“Does it really matter?” Cody seethed.

“Not really,” I answered. “But it would save me a bit of trouble on my end.”

“Not like you have anything else to do,” he huffed out. “What do you do all day? I mean, come on, you have this girl, that you probably haven’t even touched, and yet she looks just like she should. Mostly.”

“That is none of your business,” I stated firmly. “What I do, what mywifedoes, is not of your concern.”

“Until you end up with a kid,” Cody barked out. “It’s no secret that the so-called love of your life hates kids. He’ll kill you if you get pregnant and that would make it all so much easier to end this little spat. I can't wait to see that happen. At least no one would get anything out of that!”

Before I could react, Avidya moved the few steps towards Cody. Her palm slapped his face, leaving a bright red handprint across his already bruised cheek. I was sure her palm stung instantly.

“That’a girl,” I said, pulling her back and away from the man. “How about I let the other two men at him for a bit. They’ll take care of him.”

“No, please,” Cody begged, knowing what was going to happen here shortly. “I gave you what you wanted!”

“Which means I no longer have a use for you. I’m sure you still have secrets and information that I may need someday, but I can easily get that from someone else,” I said, before taking my wife by her hand and leading her out of the room. Cody’s pleading cries followed us out of the room, but neither of us batted an eyelash at them.

Yeah, my wife was one heck of a woman, and I could never love her more.
