“Having the person that wants us dead locked away will help,” I said, my voice stronger than I was expecting. “I worry that he’ll come for me again. I’m sure it has to be the same person that wanted me dead before I was . . .”
“Before you came to me,” Zachariah supplied.
“Yeah. I have a feeling it’s the same person,” I said.
“Very possible,” Violet spoke. “But he won’t get to you. Zach wouldn’t let that happen; neither will the rest of this family. Ever.”
“I promise you that.” Zachariah stated before pressing a kiss to the top of my head.
“I’ll let you get a shower, but there is someone that would like to see you,” Violet stated, a smile on her face.
“Who?” I asked, my mind not quite wanting to work with me very well.
“Toby,” she said. “He demanded to come along when he heard I was coming here.”
“Oh,” I said, genuinely surprised by that. “He’s a sweet kid.”
“A sweet kid that isn’t a fan of men, that’s for sure,” Violet said. “But that’s a given. Now, go shower. I’ll be downstairs.”
With that, she left the room, leaving Zachariah and I there as we both sat in thought.
