Tomy laughs. “Not a big deal. I’m not secretly in love with him or anything. It happens. You’re better for him than I am.” He shrugs.

I’m confident he didn’t mean it in the way I took it, but I flinch. “I can set you up on a date,” I offer. “I know some really great guys.” I glance at the book in his hand. “And girls,” I add.

He watches me with amusement. “I’m good. Thanks.”

Larson returns from the bathroom and grabs a change of clothes from the closet. He strips down and changes right there, which has me staring at him. He laughs. “I’m used to being surrounded by men when I strip,” he says.

“Why?” I ask, slightly baffled.

“Locker room. Communal space.” He shrugs. “I’ve been playing since I was a kid. I don’t even think about it anymore, so… sorry.”

Tomy laughs, shaking his head, and heads back to the balcony.

“You staying in today?” Larson asks.

“No, I’m heading to the spa in a bit. Let some hottie grope me and make me groan for a while.”

Larson grins. “Cool. See you later.” He wraps his arm around my shoulders and leads me to the door. “See?” he says once we’re in the hall. “He’s good.”

“That was still awkward,” I mutter.

“My fault. I should have dragged you into the bathroom, but I’m not sure that would have been less awkward for anyone involved.”

I snort.

Chapter Ten

LARSON

After a day of snorkeling, eating, walking the beach, and stopping in the arcade, we’re now lying on Dylan’s roof, staring up at the stars. It’s nearing midnight, and while it’s actually New Year’s Day today, Dylan says there will be fireworks every night at midnight for the week.

Since we missed last night’s, we’ll watch tonight’s. I’m not at all sorry we missed last night’s.

His roof isn’t at a severe angle, though it definitely feels like I could slide off if I move wrong. Considering we’re lying on blankets naked, hole stretched and prepped but otherwise neglected, and it feels like I slide an inch or so every time I move… The thought that I could break a leg and end my hockey career isn’t far from my mind.

Dylan is completely relaxed, so I imagine this isn’t his first time on his roof. He also has a camera. It’s strange having technology around. Even though I’ve only been on Kala for a handful of days, I’m already used to the lack of technology.

He’s lying across my body, his hands crossed over my chest, his chin resting on them as he looks at me. I’ve been hard for hours now. Seriously, I ache. It doesn’t help that every now and then he wiggles his sexy body against mine.

“How many guys have you brought up here?” I tease. “You’re awfully comfortable naked on your roof.”

He snorts. “None on my roof, but I do come up to my roof whenever there are fireworks and I want to watch them. It’s the best view.”

I look beyond him at the stars. Even with streetlights and lights from the other island, it feels as if we’re in the desert. So little light pollution. It’s beautiful. I almost wish I knew more about the stars looking down on us.

“This is your first time on Kala?” Dylan asks.

I nod. “I’ve been meaning to visit for a while, but it seems I always have something else I need to be doing, you know?”

“Besides this bit of drama, are you enjoying your visit?”

“This wasn’t drama,” I answer while sliding my hand down his spine to cup his ass. “I know you feel bad, but I promise you, it’s not a huge deal.”

“You don’t feel bad?”

“Oh no. I definitely feel like a shitty person,” I say, chuckling. “But I should. Not you.”

He rolls his eyes. “We were both involved in this.”
