“I just twisted my ankle. Now, can you please remove yourself from my new neighbor’s back?” pointing to the sexy tattooed god, like he is hard to miss.

Jules slowly and awkwardly extracts herself from Finn’s back.

“Umm, yeah, so, um, sorry about all that. Heard a loud yell. I may have assumed you were attacking Spencer,” Jules says while sheepishly beaming at Finn.

“I can maybe see how you would come to that conclusion,” Finn says while struggling to fight back a laugh. “I’m Finn, I’m moving into the apartment next door.”

“Hi Finn, I’m Jules, the best friend,” she says while giving him a coy smile and reaching out to shake his hand.

I can’t even control my eyes when it comes to her anymore, they just roll.

Bending down to dust off my pants, I step on the bad ankle and wobble a moment. Before I know it, Finn is there, pulling me close to him with his arm around my waist.

“Spencer, you need to put some ice on that before it swells,” Jules says.

“I will, but I need to close the store first.”

Jules reaches out her hand in a gimme motion. “Hand over the keys. I will go lock up the store.”

“You don’t have to do that Jules, you already covered for me tonight when I had class, besides I have to order the next shipment of textbooks, so they arrive before the next semester.”

“First of all, it’s called my job, Spencer. You pay me. It’s also my shift tonight. Second, I already placed the order, now the keys.” She narrows her eyes at me, giving methatlook. I reach into my pocket and hand over the keys.

Finn leans in close to my ear and whispers, “has she met Mira?” Oh, he has no idea.

I whisper back, “let’s just say the sexual tension is through the roof.” Finn’s breath hitches and my eyes go wide. I can’t believe I just said that out loud to Finn, of all people. The man oozes sex.

I glance over at the stairs and take a deep breath. This is gonna hurt.

Finn, still holding my side, gives it a small squeeze before telling Jules, “I’ll make sure that he makes it up the stairs.”

“I’ll call you later to check on you?” says Jules. I nod my head.

She turns and walks back into the bookstore, and I become very conscious of the fact that we are now very much alone, and Finn very much still has his arms around me.

Glancing down at me, he asks, “are you ready?”

“Umm yeah, sure,” I say.

Seriously Spencer, pull it together.

My brain is in a constant state of confusion, unable to look at him, and unable to look away. I don’t know why, but my body and my brain never seem to be on the same page.

I hobble my way over to the stairs. Seeing the broken board, I give it a stern talking to.

“You were supposed to hold on another week so I could fix you. What did I ever do to you?” I mumble like a deranged person.

“Do you always make a habit of talking to broken pieces of wood?” Finn says, bracing me against him as we make our way up the stairs.

God, his arms feel good. He smells like leather and ink, which I guess I like since my cock is fighting through the pain.

“When they warrant a stern talking to, then yes, I do. Of course, in that case, so do my feet,” I say, while grimacing through the pain.

Halfway there!

“Two left feet?” Finn asks as a small laugh breaks through.

“Nope, two right feet,” I say with a chuckle. “My ex boyfriend used to say that I was so clumsy I had two right feet instead of two left. He was not a fan of being in public with me.”
