“Don’t worry Spencer, I’ll protect you!”
“She is just so scary!”
“I know, sweetheart, I know!”
I feel him press against my ass and I can’t help but grind back against his cock. I know everyone just got here, but I have plans for tonight.
Finn, even just being in the same room as me, is making my body vibrate with anticipation. I can still taste him on my lips. His cock is perfect. Perfect width, perfect length, a slight curve to the left that I know will hit the perfect spot.
Ok, I have to get myself under control. I’m wearing tiny-ass fucking shorts, for christ’s sake, and they leave nothing to the imagination. Plus, we have a bunch of guests, although that does not seem to deter Jules and Mira from sticking their tongues down each other’s throat.
The last one to arrive is Olly, who walks in quietly under all the commotion. He looks like he has been put through the ringer, with his shoulders sagging under the weight of whatever he is holding.
“Glad you could make it!”
“Thanks for inviting me!” he says, looking around the room. His eyes hesitate for a split second. I wouldn’t have even noticed if I had not been looking at the deep bags under his eyes. I bet any amount of money that I know who they snagged on.
“Umm Olly, you are kinda a part of the group. You are always invited.”
He gives me a look that I’m pretty sure means he doesn’t actually believe me. That’s ok, I’ll just have to show him.
I link my arm through his. “Come on, let me get you a drink.”
I pour Olly a glass of wine and refill my own.
“So I’ve been meaning to talk to you about some ideas I’ve been playing around with for Dragonfly.”
“Like the e-book idea? Did that help with sales?” Olly asks.
“Yeah, it helped. Unfortunately, I don’t think it’s gonna help enough, though.”Please don’t be mad, please don’t be mad!“Well, Mom had always wanted to expand the bookstore with a little cafe. So I’ve been thinking, maybe?”
“That's a great idea, you should do it!” he says with genuine happiness in his voice. I let out the breath I’ve been holding. He is the one person I’ve been worried about telling.
“You think so? I don’t want you to think that I’m imposing on your business. You’re my friend, Olly, and I would never want to do something that would hurt you or your business.”
“Thank you. That was kind of you to think about me. But, regardless, you owe me nothing. And yes, I think it is a great idea! I’m the only restaurant in town and I struggle to keep up with the demand. I’ve been working too many long hours. Camden is growing. It’s a simple fact that we need more restaurants.”
“Thanks Olly, will you let me pick your brain sometime about restaurant stuff?”
“Anytime!”
He leans over and gives me a hug. “I’m really happy for you, Spencer!”
“Thank you!”
I mean, it is a fucking THANK YOU dinner!
I catch Finn coming this way out of the corner of my eye as we part. His forehead creased with concern. Or is that? Nope, yep, he is looking at me like a tiger to his prey. I laugh at his ridiculousness.
“Hey sweetheart,” he says, snaking his arms around my body and tucking his head into the crook of my neck. I feel his lips glide over the sensitive spot of my neck and I shiver
“Hi Olly, how are you?” he says, playing nice, and I’m grateful. His possessiveness is hot as hell, but not when it’s directed at my friends.
“I’m good. Spencer was just telling me about the cafe.”
“Yeah,” he says, giving me a soft smile that shoots straight to my heart. “He is going to be amazing.”
I shy away from the praise but kiss him on the cheek with a quiet, “Thanks.”
