I wasn’t sure how he managed it, but Owen somehow flipped me so I was flat on my back on the couch with my feet on the ground. He knelt in front of me, placed his hands on my inner thighs and pushed between my legs, sealing his mouth against my slick seam and getting an instant moan out of me.
“My turn,” he murmured before he plunged his tongue inside of me again.
I couldn’t catch my breath, and I found myself going up on my toes and rocking closer to him, tangling my fingers in his hair as he worked his magic on me. If his fingers were expert level, his tongue was a maestro. I felt almost crazed as he inched me closer to the edge.
And then I was caught off guard, flying and falling all at once, my whole world expanding in this single moment of release. I cried out, hoping that the walls and floors in his place were thick.
Finally, there was no breath left in my lungs. I went quiet.
I’d barely recovered, still half on and half off the couch, panting with my eyes shut. I heard the crinkle of a wrapper, and suddenly I could feel Owen’s heat near me again.
“C’mere,” he murmured as he pulled me to standing.
My legs were liquefied but I wasn’t standing for long. Owen dropped onto the couch, then pulled me onto his lap so that I was straddling his thighs.
Owen locked onto me, his eyes stormy. “Yes?”
His thumb stroked my cheek gently. I leaned into his hand, and he cupped my face, smiling at me in the dim light.
I nodded, raised up onto my knees, and then lowered myself onto him one aching inch at a time. When our bodies were flush again, we both sighed, like we’d arrived at a destination we’d taken too long to reach.
And then a mix of urgency and languor, as if we didn’t want to rush but we couldn’t help ourselves.
Owen’s hands rested on my hips, helping me, guiding me, urging me on.
“You’re killing me, Brooke,” he whispered as we moved together. “I’ve wanted this for so long.”
He flipped me over in a single swift move so that I was beneath him on the couch. Owen leaned down to kiss me as he thrust deep. I couldn’t imagine it feeling any sweeter, but then his fingers were back between my legs, urging me closer, faster, like he wanted me to come again before he did for the first time.
I tried to fight it off as every part of my body tensed and got ready to unfurl once again. I wanted to savor our moment, but Owen was rolling his hips against me so perfectly, his fingertips so right, that I couldn’t stop myself. I arched up as I cried out with pleasure and relief.
Owen increased his tempo, and a few seconds later he collapsed on top of me, panting. I wrapped my arms around him and welcomed his full weight as he recovered.
“We just fit together,” he finally whispered in my ear.
I hugged him closer and nodded.
I think I’d always known it.
Chapter Thirty-Six
I woke up to find Owen snoring softly beside me, his arm thrown over his eyes.
We’d stumbled up to his room in the darkness at who knows what time and fallen asleep the moment we pulled the sheet up over us. With Wes and Claudia two floors below us, I knew they wouldn’t catch me sneaking out of his room, although there was a slim chance they’d heard some of the prior night’s festivities and already had some idea of what was up.
Owen must’ve felt me watching him sleep because he rubbed his forehead and opened his eyes slowly, immediately focusing on me.
“Good morning,” he said sleepily.
I had to hold myself back from cuddling up against him despite the fact that he’d spent plenty of time nestled between my legs the night before. We were in an unknown middle place, undefined after what we’d shared and where we’d come from.
“Good morning.”
When Owen reached out to grasp my arm and pull me across the bed to him, I figured out that we weren’t quite as undefined as I’d assumed. I snuggled up against his bare chest and nuzzled my nose against his neck. His soapy scent had fadedinto pleasant, familiar Owen-ness. He planted a kiss on the top of my head as he wrapped his arms around me.
“I need to be a good host and get the coffee started,” he said softly against my hair. “As much as I want to stay here.”
He slid his hand down my back to cup my ass, and it was enough to make me have to squeeze my legs together from my instant need for him. I raised up on my elbow and cocked an eyebrow at him.
