“Will three thirty work for you?”
I eyed my Apple watch and saw that it was two fifteen. I would need to go home and change into something appropriate.Damn it.
“Yes. That’ll be fine. Thanks so much. See you soon.”
I fought so hard not to scream and jump into Nash’s arms.
“Are you okay?” he asked, eyeing me.
“Yes, but we need to leave. I just got an interview!” I pumped my fist in the air, unable to contain the excitement that coursed through my body. “I’m still praying I get the job.”
“The job is already yours, baby,” he stated. “Now, let’s go home. You’ve got to change your clothes.”
A little before my interview, I walked into Treat the Pets Vet Clinic with my heart thumping wildly in my chest. I had noreason to be nervous, but I was. Nash wanted me to call him when I got into the interview so he could listen in on what was being said. That man was something else. I told him I had it, and I’d call him when I left the interview.
He sent his best wishes and kept saying I had the job already. That was all the confidence I needed. If my man knew I had the job, then I had it. Although, I knew in my heart the job was mine.
I went to the receptionist’s desk and was greeted with a smile.
“Hello. How may I help you today?” the cheerful woman asked me. She reminded me a lot of Kaye.
“Hi, I’m Kenzlee Wilson. I’m here for an interview.”
She nodded and stood up. “Follow me. I’ll take you to Miss Charlena.”
I followed behind her, trying to act normal. It was hard since I hadn’t had a job interview in five years. She knocked on the door and opened it. I pasted a smile on my face and walked in. The older woman stood up and greeted me with a smile.
“Welcome. Welcome. Nice to meet you, Ms. Wilson. I’m Charlena.” She held out her hand for me to take, and I did. I liked her already.
“Hi. I’m Kenzlee.” I took a seat in front of her desk as the door closed.
She moved papers around on her desk before she turned her attention to me. “Before we get started, I wanted to let you know that I got in contact with your old employer to see what kind of worker you were.”
Oh, hell. I already knew I wasn’t about to get the job from her talking to Rebecca.I had to delete that thought from my mind since she said that before we got started. Hopefully, even with her talking to Rebecca, I could still get the job.
“Oh, gosh,” I mumbled.
Charlena chuckled. “I don’t know how you stayed at that job as long as you did.”
My eyes ballooned as I stared at her with my mouth dropped. “Wait, what?”
She nodded. “That lady straight asked me what I wanted and why I was calling to ask about a person who didn’t work there anymore? I simply hung up the phone. I did, however, talk to Kaye. She’s a friend of my family, and she said great things about you. She’ll also be joining you soon.”
I was in awe of what I had just heard. This couldn’t be real. Was I even getting the interview now? This lady just said that Kaye would be joining me soon.
“Do I have the job?” I asked.
She nodded. “Oh, yes, ma’am. You do! Welcome to TYP.”
As much as I wanted to jump for joy, I didn’t. I was in disbelief at it all.
“Thank you so much!” I told her tearfully.
Charlena smiled. “You’re welcome.”
She spent the next twenty minutes or so telling me what was expected of me. She also gave me a tour of the clinic. I was in love with what I saw. This place was much bigger than the other clinic I worked at, and I felt like I’d like it here. The good thing about this was that I’d start work tomorrow.
By the time I left there, I was all giggles. I couldn’t wait to get in the car to call my man. I unlocked my car door and slid behind the wheel, getting my phone from my purse.
