We shared a laugh.
I grinned. “You’re going straight to hell for that one.”
Nash laughed harder. “Man, I’m bullshitting. But I do hope I see him out and about.”
“I bet so. You’re too much, but thanks for having my back. It’s appreciated.”
“Nah, no need to thank me. What happened was wrong and knowing that you’re getting in trouble for it doesn’t sit well with me. Something’s gotta change.”
We fell silent for a moment. I sighed and glanced at the groceries that still needed to be put away. I had to get off this phone to do that. Nash and I never ran out of things to talk about.
“Do you have any plans this evening?” I asked.
“Nah. I’ll be home looking up some land for a new gym spot. Why? Wassup?”
“I wondered if you wanted to chill with me. If you want, I can help you find some land.”
“Word, and I can help you find a new job.”
Nash was dead set on my finding a new job. I loved that he had my best interests in mind.
“Okay, fine. We can do that too.”
“Okay. What time do you want me to come over?”
“Hmm. Let’s say around six.”
“I’ll be there, beautiful. Make sure you take a nap too. Since you’re off for the rest of the week, you won’t be going to bed early tonight.”
I threw my head back and laughed loudly. “Get off my phone now.”
Nashton laughed too as we ended the call. I could easily see myself falling in love with him. We were still getting to know each other, but this man was down to help me in any way he could. I loved how he was loyal to me even when he didn’t fullyknow me. Since I’d met him, he had been generous and friendly, but most importantly, he’d shown that he was loyal.
After I put the groceries away, I changed out of my work clothes and laid down for a nap.
Sleep came easily for me, and I ended up sleeping until after three o'clock. I got up and took a quick shower, wanting to wash the day off of me. I had no idea what I wanted to put on, but I wanted to look good and comfortable too. I settled on a gray cotton dress I bought from SHEIN two months ago, spritzing on some of my watermelon perfume. Now, I needed to get to cooking the seafood boil. I felt recharged and ready to see what Nash and I would be up to when he got here later.
A knock came at my door three hours later, causing me to put down the knife I held. I was about to cut up an onion. I ambled out of the kitchen and across my living room carpeted floor to the door. I was greeted with a smile when I opened the door for Nash. He had a gift bag in his hand, causing me to lift an eyebrow.
I moved aside to let him in. He came in and pulled me into his arms, dropping a kiss on my cheek. I loved how he was affectionate.
“Damn, you smell good enough to eat.”
I shivered at Nash’s words as my coochie throbbed. If he kept saying things like that to me, I’d tell him to do it.
“What’s in the bag?” I asked him when he pulled away from me. Closing the door, I turned my attention to him.
Nash pulled out a pair of boxing gloves, causing me to smack my lips. He thought it was so funny, pressing his lips together to keep from laughing.
“Now, why?” I tilted my head to the side and studied him.
“You should already know. You were beating the hell out of that punching bag yesterday. Smoke came from the gloves you had on, so I bought you your own pair.” He put the gloves back in the bag.
As much as I tried to keep a straight face, I burst out into laughter, and he joined in.
“I can’t stand you right now.”
“It’s all good. I got you something else too.” Nash went into the bag again and pulled out a bottle of wine. Once he showed me that, he put it back in the bag with the gloves and handed it to me. I happily took it.
