James, Calum, Xander, Saint, and
Paxton, that means you guys, too.
I’ve okayed it with your bosses.
Miles and Kodi, bring some notebooks,
If you’re not down by 930, then you miss
out and don’t get a vote.
MILES: When you say scruffs?
ANGEL: I mean, we are going for a
walk to where it will be dirty and dusty
don’t wear pretty clothes. *Eye roll emoji *
Most of the guys have given thumbs-up emojis or confused GIFs. I jump up, throwing on my work boots and Jeans, I stick on a nicer t-shirt than what I wear when I help Tim and Bas, but I still stick a flannel on. I don’t need a winter jacket even in the snow, but I do, as humans notice, we maintain a little of that in the woods, in case humans spot us when we are hiking.
Ember, Bas and Timber are packing up coolers and flasks when I get downstairs, and the guys are all sitting grumping and chugging coffee, even J has coffee mixed with his hot chocolate.
Mateo has an amused, if not tired, look, and I wouldn’t be shocked if he knew what was going on.
I raise my eyebrows when I notice Bas loading up tools in some hiking bags ‘Why not drive?’ I finish my breakfast quickly, and I’m just finishing my coffee as Ember steps in,
“Ready, guys? Some of you will need to help carry stuff, please,” she smiles at us all,
“Sweetheart, I’ve got a few ideas, let me talk to them and then get back to you, the top of the list may need some help getting out from parent control, but I think she needs it”, Liam says as we pass, and Ember gives him a thumbs up.
“Luna, what are you planning? As Alpha, I should be aware, but even my Betas look confused.” Ren asks, and Ember just gives him a smile and heads outside, a heavy bag on her back.
With Bas and Timber walking on either side of Ember, leading the convoy, I chuckle when Miles starts to grumble,
“It's thirty minutes, if that, Miles, shift if you want, but trust me, please” A look passes across Miles’ face at her words, but he doesn’t grumble again.
A few guys that aren’t carrying anything shift but stay behind Ember, I notice Bas and Tim marking trees and catch up to see if I can help,
“I think three trails would be good; this one is pretty direct and then two more scenic ones,” Tim's gruff voice reaches my ears, and I notice Ember agree.
“Will you be able to use all the trees? I don’t like the idea of waste”
I love that she gives a shit about this stuff, and Bas tells her about a sawmill they have a contract with, they give us a discount, especially if we book a two-day session with a lot of material, and they plan to set up their own to have as the supply for their construction company, but it’s finding the land.
“Is it land you need or capital?” Ember isn’t looking at either of them, and she looks nervous.
“Land, we would need to be near a sturdy road and preferably near trees we can use. We plan to replant so it replenishes. Nic has said we can use trees from his land, but we still need space,” I reply.
“I would like to do custom furniture and carvings and have a shop linked to the mill so we could do with somewhere that is seen rather than hidden.” She nods and walksfor a bit before glancing at my brother,
“What about near our access road? It’s a busy road, and the lot opposite is empty with what looks like an old car dealership, we could convert that into the office and Kodis showroom, clear some trees partway up our road and stick the mill there if you maintain the trees on our land then I won’t charge you rent.” she shrugs when the guys gasps of ‘are you sure?’ sounding more like bear cubs than what they normally sound like,
“Yeah, if we clear our road and then clear out your space, get your mill built with those and fix the road, then you can be ‘milling’ the trees as you cut them to make room for what we need,” everything she says has an air of nonchalance to it, we do or don’t she doesn’t mind but the offer is there,
“If you want me to supply the upfronts, I can, as it would be an investment towards my future. Ignatious can okay it,” she says all this as if it’s all that easy.
“It’s the same as he’s signed off on the bill for hiring you guys, the mill is probably a smaller amount” I’m not the only one listening and trips at her words.
