She had never noticed how full his lips were before.
Caden was breathing heavily. His chest and shoulders were heaving and she hoped it was with something close to her own anticipation.
Ava could not bring herself to answer him, so she looked back down.
His feet are enormous, compared to mine.
“Ava…” He hooked a calloused thumb under her chin and stroked it with his forefinger.
Her heart skipped a beat at the sound of her name. Or was it the look in his eyes that was growing more and more hungry?
She was not sure.
Suddenly, he pulled her toward the study, where the fire burned low. Her hair and shirt fluttered behind her as she followed him. Her wrist instantly felt cold as he released her to shut and lock the door.
Caden turned toward her, approaching at a steady pace. Her heart sped up. His eyes were those of a hunter stalking his prey. Not a muscle moved, aside from her eyes following him. She was so stunned she could not even breathe.
“Ye’re wearing something that’s mine, and I want it back,” he drawled.
Slowly, agonizingly, he untied the tartan.
Ava’s throat went dry when the tartan dropped to the floor. She could feel her nipples pebble under his shirt. She was keenly aware that he could see through the fabric, for it was so thin.
He was a lion about to devour a lamb.
“And this belongs to me as well,” he murmured against her ear, pointing to his shirt.
Ava wanted to retort, but her mouth merely opened and closed.
Ye look like a dyin’ fish!
She snapped her mouth shut.
Caden played with the sleeves, before trailing his fingers to the collar, which was tied over a ‘V’ that framed her cleavage. A wisp of hair tickled her nose as she breathed in slowly. A lump formed in her throat, and she was unable to swallow past it.
Rough fingers skimmed over her skin as he untied his shirt. Her eyes followed the finger he traced down her breast. He grabbed the hem of the shirt with his other hand and tugged her toward him. Then he leaned down till his mouth was a hair’s breadth from her own.
Her body was taught like a bow string.
The silky smooth fabric of his shirt glided across her skin as he peeled it off her, baring her to his hungry gaze.
“Andyebelong to me,” he purred.
He closed the distance between them, and her face met the silk of his mask and skin. Their lips met in a passionate kiss, and the world started to spin.
Caden pressed her against him and slid his large hands in her hair. He gently tugged on the strands, coaxing her to look at him. His brown eyes bored into her, making her mouth go dry.
Deftly, he angled her head. His lips trailed down her chin to her neck. Each kiss was accompanied by tongue and teeth. There were no words for how amazing every sensation was.
His strong fingers stroked down her bare back, before coming to rest at her waist. Her breath hitched as she felt the hardness under his kilt poking her hip. She stroked his neck with one hand and clutched at his shoulder with the other. Each flick of his tongue set her skin on fire.
Ava leaned into him, as he moved his hand to stroked her waist, up her ribcage, her arm, all the way up to her neck, his thumb finally dragging across her lips and his fingers gripping her jaw.
“Ever since ye came here, ye changed everything.” Caden sucked on the sensitive spot beneath her ear. “I cannae stop thinking about ye.” He nipped her ear.
Ava gasped, fisting her hand in his shirt. Unable to catch her breath, she let herself get lost in his crushing embrace and open-mouthed kisses. Caden kissed down her chest and sucked her nipple into his mouth.
A bolt of pleasure zinged through her. She was certain she would combust from the feel of his tongue and fingers on her skin.
