“It’s weird, but touching you makes my stomach feel full,” I said, noticing that for the first time.
“If that’s the case, let’s leave this place,” he agreed. He pulled some bills from his hoodie pocket and tossed them on the table. It was three times what our meal was worth, but the staff deserved a big tip.
We kept our hands clasped as we wiggled out of our seats. We walked out hand in hand, and without needing me to guide him, he turned us toward my apartment building.
I tugged him to a stop. “It’s too far to walk. We need to go back to my shop. My car is parked there.”
He hissed out an annoyed breath. “Yes, you’re right.”
We changed direction. I could feel impatience radiating from him as we made our way to the shop. I hated to do it, but when we got there, I led him to the shop door instead of my car.
“Give me one minute,” I said. “I have to make sure the order I put in earlier went through, otherwise, I’ll be screwed.”
He was silent as I unlocked and relocked the door behind us. I really didn’t need to worry about intruders with him here, but it was a habit.
Instead of wandering around the shop, he stood over me as I fired up the laptop in the back office and checked my supplier’s website in Mexico. I saw that my order was under review. Good! That meant the website hadn’t glitched on me. It had happened before, and the record of my order vanished. I kept telling the woman who owned the business that she needed to update, but she never took me seriously.
Shutting my laptop, I smiled up at Vie as I stood up. “All done.”
He didn’t step out of the way. The office was tight, and he loomed over me, a solid presence I couldn’t move past.
“Vie?”
“I waited so you could eat,” he said, voice low and more unworldly again. His eyes sparkled brighter, illuminating his forehead and the skin under his eyes within the hood. “Wewalked back here to get your car. We came in here so you could finish a task. I can’t wait any longer.”
My pulse quickened. “What do you want to do?”
Moving slowly, as if he was scared he’d spook me, he reached up and cupped my cheek. “I want to put my lips against yours.”
“Pull your hood back,” I demanded.
He jerked his hood off his head. His expression was so intense I sucked in a breath. I felt like I was being seen in more detail than ever before.
As if he could see into my soul.
I nodded my head because I didn’t trust my voice. I wanted him to kiss me more than anything. When he leaned over, I tilted my head up. First, he only brushed his lips against mine, but even that sent sparks down my spine. I went up on my toes, pressing against him and deepening the kiss.
His hand left my cheek, and his arms went around my waist, pulling me hard against his body. I was suddenly enveloped in warmth. Without breaking the kiss, he lifted me. I wrapped my arms around his neck as my feet dangled in the air.
Between his kiss and his hold on me, I was more turned on than I’d ever been in my life. My panties were soaked, and I ached to be touched.
I was torn. I wanted to strip his hoodie and shirt off. I was desperate to run my hands over his skin. But I’d have to break the kiss to do that, and I wasn’t ready for that.
He made a deep growling sound and turned to push me against a wall of boxes. They gave a little, making a nice me-shaped indentation. I wrapped my legs around his waist and rubbed my aching core against him. This reminded me of being a teenager and dry humping my boyfriend behind the gym.
Except kissing and rubbing on Noah wasn’t anything like this.
We shouldn’t have gone to the diner. I definitely shouldn’t have asked him to come back to the shop. We could’ve been at my place already stripped naked!
He ended the kiss. I whimpered and tried to follow his mouth, but he grabbed a handful of my hair and forced my head still.
“I want to please you,” he panted.
I blinked at him. “You already are!”
His bright blue eyes flared. “You smell so good. Can I taste you?”
“T-t-taste me?”
