"No date is complete without a dance." I held out my hand. "May I have this dance, my love?"

The soft music played in the background as he looked up into my eyes, and his green eyes sparkled. "I'd love to," he whispered as he took my hand and stood.

I pulled him into my arms, and his head rested lightly on my chest. We began to sway to the music gently. My heart was filled with love, and I was content. My dragon, who was usually untamed, settled inside my mind. If he were a cat, he would be purring.

"I love you, Ben," I said softly.

He pulled back a little, "I love you, too," he said, standing up on his toes to kiss me. I bent to meet his lips.

As we kissed, I heard him whisper through our bond. This is the best date ever.

I had to agree.

Nesting Instincts

Ben

Thenextmorningafterthe best first date ever, Kris and I started our house search. Roarke was a staple now; wherever we went, he went. And surprise, surprise—Devin was there. He decided to come along in our search to find a new home. Although I think it had more to do with spending time with Roarke.

“I think you're both going to like this next cabin," the real estate agent, Alice, chirped in her perky voice. She had said that for the last seven locations, and I was ready to throttle her cheerful little face. I was tired and hungry.

"I hope so," I grumbled. Picking up on my mood, Kris grabbed me and pulled me into his arms. As they closed around me, his scent enveloped me and I felt a sense of home. If someone had told me four weeks ago that I'd have a mate—and I would enjoy snuggling in his arms—I would have laughed at them. Now, I could think of no better place.

"We should be coming up on the cabin in just a moment," perky Alice said, drawing my attention. As I looked around, I saw a long, private drive with trees lining the way. We pulled up to a four-story cabin. We got out of the car and looked at the building; it was stunning from the outside with a dark deck that appeared to wrap around. Large bay windows allowed a view of the mountains’ beauty. I prayed that the inside matched the outside. I turned to look at Kris, and by the expression on his face, he felt the same as me.

"This place is amazing!" Roarke exclaimed. His face was like a kid in a candy store. "Come on! Let's check it out."

I chuckled as we made our way into the cabin, and I had to agree with Roarke. The great room was enormous, connecting to both the dining area and the kitchen. As I suspected, a large glass door at the back opened to the deck.

As we walked the room, Alice explained all the amenities of the cabin. There were four bedrooms and three baths. The master bedroom took up the entire fourth level, with floor-to-ceiling windows and a balcony that allowed for the most incredible view. As we went outside, we saw the cabin was on the edge of a mountain, private and perfect. This would be a perfect place for Kris and our son to change into their dragons without the worry of being seen.

I want this place.I spoke to my beloved through our mind link, sharing with him my thoughts and my feelings of happiness. He smiled at me and nodded, and I felt his same happiness.

Absolutely. It's been a while since I let my dragon free, and this place is perfect, he replied.

When will I be able to see your dragon? I have yet to see him. I thought back.

You're right. We’ll have to take care of that tonight. He’s eager for you to see him, he responded

Sounds perfect.

"We'll take it and the surrounding properties; money is no object," he said as if he already owned the place.

"Great! While there are a lot of properties around here, it already comes with fifty acres of the mountain. So, you won't necessarily need to purchase those," Alice replied.

"I would still like it if you could compile the list of the properties. Heck, I would prefer to purchase the entire mountain," Kris said.

Alice's eyes widened, and she nodded. "Absolutely, I’ll get that list for you and start the process of buying the cabin."

"I want to be in by week's end," he decreed. I laughed with Devin as Alice's eyes widened even more, her look of shock not changing. We made our way outside back to the car; I took one more look at my new home before entering the vehicle. Another change, another adjustment, and I couldn't be happier.

Bythetimewegot back to the coven, I was ravenous. As soon as we entered, I made my way straight to the dining hall, dragging Kris by the hand. I needed food, now, and I was on a mission.

I guess the look on my face made it apparent because Master Stephen and Semais approached us, then quickly changed directions. Smart men. Basil, on the other hand—not that smart. He actually tried to step up and talk to us, and ended up on his back as I threw him down. Kris raised an eyebrow as I stepped over him and got to the buffet.

What? He got between me and the lasagna, I thought.

I didn't say a thing, my beloved thought back as I piled my plate with the deliciousness and grabbed some garlic bread.
