“Japtic,” I greeted, smiling at my friend. “I should've known you'd be the one to call me out.”
Japtic barked a laugh. “I haven’t seen you for a while. I heard you found your sparks. I had to make sure to say hi and meet them.”
“Well, this is one of them,” I said, waving to Colin. “Colin, this is my friend, Japtic. Japtic, this my Colin.”
“Nice to meet you, Colin. My, you’re a handsome one.” He stepped forward and placed his hand on his shoulder. “Will you be joining my orgy tomorrow? I’d love—”
I growled and stepped between them, breaking their contact. “Hands off, Japtic. He’s mine.”
Japtic pouted. “Another possessive imp. Oh well. I’ll miss you at my party. Unless, of course, you’ll let us watch?”
Fuck, we hadn’t discussed voyeurism. My cock hardened at the thought of people seeing Colin and Reggie in the throes of passion. I was like Zin, a voyeur at heart.
“Oh, please tell us you’ll let us watch,” my friend Jalica said before I could reply.
“But just you two. No one would want to see that plump human,” Astin added.
Jalica laughed at her friend’s comment. “Oh yes, Zander, you poor thing, being paired with that. At least Fate also gave you a hot one.”
Rage, like I’d never felt before, filled me. How dare they talk about Reggie like that. Who the hell did they think they were? Elven bitches.
Colin stiffened beside me, and I felt my own power surge within me. “What did you say?” I asked through clenched teeth.
Japtic’s eyes widened and he took a step back. But Jalica and Astin didn’t appear fazed. “Oh, come on, Zander. You can’t say you like that squishy human.”
“Squishy human,” Astin howled. “That’s a good one.”
Colin hissed, and my magic blazed around me. Green fire danced over my skin, and I scanned the room, hunting for those that hurt my mate. I’d kill those two snot-nosed bitches. How dare they say anything about my sweet Reggie? I raised my hands and blasted them with my energy. They flew across the room, crashing atop the table.
“Whoa, Zander. What the hell? Calm down,” Gavin called out.
I wouldn’t be calm until I had my retribution.
“What the hell is going on?” Dimitri asked.
“I… I. Zan, they were just messing around. They didn’t mean…” Japtic stuttered.
“Messing around. I’ll kill them for hurting my spark,” I growled.
“Whoa! Zander, calm down. What did they do?” Gavin asked.
“Zander, they’re not worth it. We need to check on Reggie,” Colin ground out, holding my arm.
I shook off his hold and stepped forward. “If you ever say anything about my sparks again, I’ll kill you.”
Jalica and Astin’s sapphire eyes rounded, and they crawled back, nodding. “We won’t. We swear.”
I glared at them before twirling around and grabbing Colin’s hand. “Let’s go check on Reggie.”
I raised my hand to flash us out of there, when a familiar voice called out, “Zander!”
I spun around, my magic still thrumming close to the surface. Alever stood there, his expression a mix of concern and caution. “What?” I snapped, my patience had worn thin.
Alever hesitated for a moment, then said, “I took Reggie to Colin's apartment in the human realm, not your place here.”
I blinked in confusion. “Why?”
Alever sighed. “He... he said he'd feel more comfortable there alone.”
